"I was lucky enough to obtain technical training in business finance and was even more lucky to obtain a scholarship from Google through coursera for IT since it was originally my major prior to coming to this school. During my stay, it wasn't all too terrible but I did not enjoy the dorm life lots of fighting, stealing, yelling, negativity and drama. The mental health advisor Jodi is.. okay.. but not really a huge deal. I'd like to personally thank Chavez, Nancy, Bryson, Frank & Zazueta any many others for their help during my stay as they all are very positive, real and amazing staff/instructors/mentors. I will say that Security/Behavioral coach aka Mr. Horace (not the trade) should in general puts more importance and stricter rules on people getting away with stealing and bullying. Bullying tends to happen a lot here and the lack of communication within the staff is incredibly terrible. While I was a victim of bullying here I do not understand why or how my bully/assaliant is still able to be here after pushing me against a wall when I was a week fresh out of the ER from a gallbladder removal and nobody did anything to accomodate me during my stay. My main concern is the career advisors I had been reassigned to two of them and none of them respond to me. Edit: 10/31/23 I was able to get into contact with PJCC about being able to return since length of stay was under 117 days which enabled me to return asap for advance career training. Was invited to orientation and when it was day to go I was emailed and called and was told I was no longer eligible to join after a year later despite being told two weeks ago that I was able to join back. I also have not obtained my certificate of completion. 3/5 stars still overall."
"The experience i had here was okay the staff had lack of communication and I didn't get the help I needed when I ask some staff would try to change my mind even when I would talk them about my goals or what I wanted to do. I personally would like to thank Ms Chavez, Mr Frank and every other staff that has help me that I know of that help me complete from here."
"Phoenix Job Corps changed my life. I was able to get my certification in medical assisting, phlebotomy, and EKG and launched my pathway into healthcare. 10 years later and that short time in trade school paid off because I am the manager of 2 hospital programs and making 3 times as much as I was when I first started in healthcare. This did not involve me getting additional education (although i just started my bachelors program) my success stems from the knowledge and hard work I gained at Job Corps that I applied to my life every day. Show up for yourself. Stick with a positive supportive group. Job Corps was the best decision I have ever made."
"I was at this job corps for around 6 months and it was by far the worst experience I've had outside of my parents household. I was treated as if I had no opinion, no rights , no freedom, I was punished for trying to make it a better place for the other students, I was silenced by Krista dykes and staff when I tried to reach out to corporate about my living situation. I was falsely accused and despite giving, photos, videos, text messages, EVIDENCE I was still treated as an offender and kicked out of job corps. I don't recommend anyone who values there mental and physical well-being coming here"
"Went here back in 2013. It was the best thing I did at the time and led me to a stable career in healthcare. If you stay focused on your goal you will do well. Avoid the drama and ignore negative staff. Stay around the positive people and good staff who wish to see everyone succeed."
