"Update: I repeat: I did not curse or use foul language in front of children at the studio! I had the entire rest of the parents whose children were in class there with me and can back me up on that. The owner AND the front staff are horrible liars. There claims were horribly untrue and came out of nowhere and they ran with it! I usually paid my dues on time and Sat reading in the small room while waiting for my child unless she needed me in there. I said their rules were “silly” to another parent because they were nasty and rude about me not being able to sit in the room and watch her. That’s what started this. That’s why they are lying. I was 7mths pregnant and wrote an email to them right after class asking about missing the recital and they immediately took that as me being rude and said I don’t have to attend or come back. They were not kind or made any sense really. It’s a mean girl dance mom vibe. I can’t sit back and let them lie about things. That’s just not what happened- me cursing and verbally assaulting the front staff. Nope, sorry but no.Original: I had a horrible experience here with the front staff. I sat in on my child’s class (3-4 year old) & was rudely told I needed to leave though it’s not written & I’ve seen parents sit in almost every session for the younger age children. There are no view windows like a typical studio abs they only offer two extremely small black and white televisions to watch your kid on which are located across from the one bench they offer for the parents. Regardless I said that was silly (daughter asked if I could sit in that day) but went and sat with the other parents. While sitting I asked when that rule started and she rudely answered always. Though again never been told anything, never heard anything to any other parent etc. i went ahead and talked to a parent sitting next to me about something else. That is all that happened! Later I emailed about getting a refund for recital (baby’s due date is two days before recital) & I got a horrible email from the owner criticizing my parenting, saying the manage said I was cussing in front of children, that the fit wasn’t working? I was furious about such an email for such a insignificant incident & Initial email. I said that’s not what happened, could provide other parents as witnesses and that the manager was being rude. She laughed & said I’ve been friends with her for twenty years I don’t believe you. Mind you, I’ve never said anything while my daughter in class, usually read, sit in when needed, & pay all dues on time. There is no reason for an owner to talk to me or not believe what I’m saying. Regardless, I asked her about refunds they told me they would take care of everything but eventually no reply. So I go in to get paperwork & ask the manager why she said what she said to the owner and she said “haven’t you ever had a bad day?” She told me she would talk to the owner and I asked for an apology but she avoided it all together & a personal meeting to clear whatever was going on up with manager and owner. When I left I received a email from the owner saying I was not allowed back in the studio, that if so they would call the cops, and then they proceeded to accuse me of cussing in front of children! I’m sorry but I have no words for those two. In the end they sent me a small, small fraction of what they said they would refund me…All of this because I INQUIRED about the recital being refunded? Because I guarantee if I had not written that email nobody would ever had said something about that day in dance class because it was so insignificant!I have sense talked to other moms and everyone seems to being their children here but they all have different issues. Since this is the only studio they seem to be able to do what they like without a care for the parents or children…"
"I REALLY wish there was another dance studio here in Maricopa. I had a really unsettling experience with DSPA. I pulled my three year old daughter out of classes after she wandered outside, unaccompanied ten minutes before her class ended. It was dark outside already. Fortunately my husband saw her walk outside, as he was able to find a parking spot by the door. I must add that this studio has no where for parents to sit, and there is no viewing area/window either. I feel this is a must for the preschooler groups. I did take the matter up with the owner, Ceylan, and she took full responsibility… the excuse however was that the lobby was chaotic due to recital parent night (we decided to not participate in recital, which we communicated weeks ago) and that our daughter “slipped away from view”… her class shouldn’t have ended early without us knowing so (we have no correspondence regarding our daughter’s class ending early). If we knew her class was ending early that day, my husband would have been in the building at that time. My husband always walks in five minutes before her class ends so that he can see her walk out. I just can’t wrap my head around what could have happened if my husband wasn’t there to see her walk outside. She could have been hit by a car, or taken from us… Absolutely inexcusable."
"My daughter has been dancing since she was 3. She has been to several studios over 3 different states. She has had her share of laid back, very strict and a happy balance of both. I am very happy to have found this studio. She has excelled in the short time that she has arrived. She is pushed just enough out of her comfort zone so she can see how much talent she really has. These kids’ abilities are able to shine through. They have events for the kids and are very welcoming. I have been the odd mom out at a few studios and this isn’t the case here, and my daughter feels the same. They have made accommodations for her since she arrived and I could not be more thankful."
"We have been dancing at DSPA for a little over 5 years now, my daughter and 2 of my sons have danced there. It is a very fun and loving environment. The kids have a blast and love going. I love how they are excepting to all needs and abilities."
"Our daughter has been attending DSPA for 8 years. We started slowly but eventually she has been taking classes daily and LOVES it! Her teachers encourage, care, and push their dancers to achieve their best! DSPA is family oriented and has become our family! Love this studio!"
