"THEY SPELLED MY NAME WRONG IN THE YEARBOOK. MY NAME IS VALLOREY. They spelled it " V-a-l-e-n-e" How is that even remotely close?!?! Never in my life have I hated being at a high school more than here. Words cannot describe the extent of physical and emotional stress that is involved in attending Valley Vista. Being there every day drained me emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I found it hard to keep a happy positive attitude just being there. I was always stressed, frustrated and wanting to be anywhere but there. I have so many complaints about this school that I could write a 5-page front-and-back essay about why I hated this school. During lunch, we all HAVE to be outside. No students are allowed inside any of the buildings. even when it is 100+ degrees outside, staff are always kicking students out of the building who are only trying to stay cool because the only shady places outside are already filled up. I think it is ridiculous. Even if you just want to sit on the stairs and not make any noise or anything, you will no doubt, be removed from the building. Giving students a 5 minute passing period and expecting them to get to class on time, is almost never enough time. A lot of students end up having to run across the campus just to get to class on time. With certain teachers, if they are just seconds late they are sent to "sweep" (which is a room in one of the buildings where you have to go to get a late pass) to go get a pass when they were clearly just trying to make it to class on time. I have never encountered a friendly face in the front office. All of the staff in the office just ignore you until you say something to them. They just type away at their computers doing god knows what and refuse not acknowledge you until you say something first. I have never had a pleasant experience with the front office. For example, I was marked absent one a day THAT I WAS NOT SCHEDULED TO BE THERE BECAUSE OF TESTING and they REFUSED to fix my attendance. On top of that, there are so many teachers who just do not care about their jobs. They are the kind of teachers who just give you worksheets to complete, with no real student-teacher interaction, all while they sit at their desk and do absolutely nothing to enrich their students. These kinds of teachers give a horrible impression to the teachers who actually care about their students and want to engage them as much as they possibly can. Not to mention, the people who go to this school are horrendous. I have never met a more disrespectful, full of themselves, class of students. The kids who go to valley vista give the school a bad reputation from all the fights, drug use, and blatant disrespect. With that said, there are some genuine, intelligent, respectful students who do not cause any trouble. There's so much more to Valley Vista that is just totally awful but then I would be going on for years If I were a parent, Valley Vista is the LAST place I would send my child."
"I graduated in 2013. I didn’t have a problem with this school till graduation day. I didn’t want to wear a dress like anyone else. So I wore a nice top and jeans. Once I got there, The principal told me I couldn’t walk because I had jeans on. I almost lost a opportunity to walk. All my hard work thrown in the trash because I wore jeans? Luckily, my mom and I exchange clothes since she was wearing a dress. She was petite and wore the same size as me. After that experience, I lost respect for this school. While they criticized me, they didn't say anything to the girls that were wearing long heels. Wearing long heels can kick you out from graduation, guess not. My parents were furious about this. The next day they kept calling the principal saying it was unfair and sexist. If I didn’t walk, I would have reached out to the news or something!"
"Boy comes home in a good mood all the time. Tells me he is learning. That is what school is all about."
