"December 20th: The teachers were absolutely amazing but as for the management they failed to keep their promises on what we will be doing during this course which was to build 3 different modules, learning experiences due to failure to buy materials, and failure to provide the tools we were promised very disappointing as many if not all the students sacrificed time away from family, work, and rest to do this program. Ironically they have an Honor Code which mention’s honesty the Owner himself Clayton Abernathy refuses to answer and the school has not answered any of my calls after several times of calling. Down below are the tools we were not given Circular Saw Hackzall Oscillating Multi-tool Grinder 12 Amp Battery 3 Amp Battery 1.5 Amp Battery Hole Dozer & Sawzall Blade set 4 1/8" Hole Dozer Nail Puller Impact Drill-driver Set Spade Bit Set 1 1/2" Spade Bit Tools Screw/Nut Driver Hammer Tacker 15” Tooth Saw Chalk Reel & Chalk Utility Knife 29oz Caulking Gun I-Beam Level 12" Level Rafter Square Framing Square Tin Snips Tools Keyhole saw Putty knife 6" joint knife 10" taping knife 12" taping knife 12" mud pan Drywall sander Trowel Drywall screw setter Corner bead tool w/ mallet Drywall t-square Voltage Tester set Wire Stripper/cutter Channellocks Crescent Wrench Nail Setter set Side Cutting Pliers Wire Brush Paint brush set 10oz caulking gun Spider bit set 12” Trigger Clamp Updating as of January 17th Still waiting on tools and perhaps an apology"
"The knowledge & improvement of skills I came away with over the 6 month course has helped me & my understanding of construction. I've been able to apply everything I learned to the properties I work on. I knew some things well enough, & learned things I didn't previously know. I have a better understanding of how everything is supposed to come together. I left the course with more than I came in with."
"Wasted 6 months of my life showing up to this place. They constantly lied to us about tools and teachers coming back, they would always push things off and kept us out of the circle. Supplies would show up late, everything was done backwards due to supply not being shipped or not having enough money. The biggest liar of them all is Clay Abernathy, this plump lil piglet hides from the students and shows no shame doing what he did to us. He promoted the program on KGUN9 news saying great things about the course while there was no supply and students were just standing around wasting their time waiting. To the people who didn’t speak out on the issue when they were interviewed, yall are the problem and the reason why pigs like Clay Abernathy get away with their slimy practices. If you’re looking to sign up for this class, don’t. They're charging 2,000-2,500 now instead of 500 for the whole course. We have yet to receive any tools yet either. The course finished Nov 22, 2023 and there is still no word on tools, so save yourself 6 months and go to a non Mormon owned school"
"Clay Abernathy is a scam artist who sold every student who signed up for this program, hope. People were showing up to find a sense of fulfillment, financial freedom, and education. Clay Abernathy hyped the course to be one of the best we could have signed up for but instead turned out to be one of the worst. We were supposed to do 3 house builds within the span of 6 months, but ended up doing one due to a lack of materials. Why take 60+ students into your school if you don’t know you can pay for all those tools. People’s precious time was being wasted while they stood around waiting for insulation, plywood, sheathing, drywall, drywall mud, etc… For any new people looking to sign up with this program HEED MY WARNING. YOU WILL BE USED AS FREE LABOR, THEY WILL CUT YOU OFF AS QUICK AS THEY CAN. There are better trade schools out there you can sign up for. They are also going to be charging new students more money, it went from 500 to 2,000 dollars. Don’t let Clay Abernathy Abuse you like he did our class."
"This is a scam! Clay Abernathy is a liar and a terrible business owner. Scammed over 40+ students that signed up for this school and paid him $500 for his promises and contractual obligations of $2400 worth of tools, connections in the construction industry (which he doesn't have) and skills that we were supposed to learn over TWO modular builds, only to learn these skills in bits and pieces as the material shortages continued for over three months. Finally, he used our FREE labor as students to run his business and sell his product only to leave us with no tools or connections. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SCHOOL!"
