Reviews of Desert West OB/GYN Arrowhead
"I had a good experience with Dr. Ketha and I am glad she is my new Doctor. Both her and her assistant Brianna were kind, professional and there was no waiting with is not typical of any Dr. office!"
"Unprofessional and not showing an example of caring about women's health. My mom has been going here for over a year, sadly since Hannah Smith left having issues. My mom is a senior who needs to have her pessary cleaned on schedule as she also gets UTIs which are devastating to her health. Called in to adjust her appointment by a few days. At that time was told said they can't help her as the new provider doesn't take her insurance. Person on phone lacked empathy or a desire to help solve issue. No referrals or an option to pay cash. Either way, finding out now a few days ahead of her appointment she has no one to help her. ONLY cause of my call. Very unprofessional considering the severity of what can happen to my mom. Can't recommend this group, they will leave you high and dry with no notice as they did mom. Advise if you dare to seek their help, make your appointments at the location. if you call in for appoints it takes 25mins plus of being on hold. Hitting 30 mins on hold right now."
"My appointment with Hannah in Anthem was a breathe of fresh air. She took time to sit with me to ask and answer questions. She explained things so that I understood everything I asked. It's so lovely to have a provider that truly cares for her patients. Thank you so much !!"
"Absolutely love Dr Medina! She was very thorough and came up with a plan of action for my concerns. The Dr. had a great bedside manner. I will definitely book with her again next year."
"Update: Medical process doesn't exist? The way things played out or the fact that I was still pregnant after a D and C? Either way I have records from your office on hand that says other wise. I just want to start this off by saying that this is not to be done maliciously but to help other women. I have miscarried and went on to have a successful pregnancy. My OB whom I won't name was amazing; I whole heartedly loved her and trusted her. I was pregnant again & was told to come in early for an u/s. I only saw the tech. She walked out of the room and came back with Fiona and with the doctor on the phone to inform me that we had lost the baby, there was no heart beat. I was absolutely devastated. We were told to go to the other office to meet the doctor and to go over our options. We were then told we could do lab work but that we wouldn't get the results we were looking for and was guaranteed that the baby was not viable. Again, I was completely devastated and in disbelief that I was in this season of life again and having total faith in my doctor, we signed up for the D and C which would be performed a few days later. It was said that we were offered another u/s, but neither my husband and I remember this and had we thought about it or had it been offered, we would have done it. The day of the surgery, we did ask repeatedly for another u/s and never got an answer. When we did, they were about to take me back and we were told there was no time and again was guaranteed that the baby was not viable, that the surgery wouldn't have been offered if there was even the slightest possibility. Again, having full faith in our doctor, we proceeded with the surgery. Following the surgery, I did not have any of the post op symptoms that I had had with the first D and C. I was still feeling tired and sick to my stomach. I went in for the 2 week post op and told them how I was feeling. I was told they wanted to do another u/s as path results came back as no evidence of conception. I laid there and for a moment started wondering what was medically wrong with me and just going down a rabbit hole when to both of our astonishment we discovered I was in fact still pregnant and we had a beautiful beating heart. I was in complete shock and over the moon as this child was something we REALLY wanted. It could not be explained and I was told to come back in I believe it was another week or two for a follow up. Obviously we had a lot of questions and were just told it could not be explained. We were told that the lining looked different and that the procedure was stopped. But I pulled up the op report myself and I know I'm not a medical professional but it sounds like the whole surgery was performed with it reading how many times instruments were passed and that contents of the baby (this was worded differently) could be seen passing through the clear tubing. We saw another OB at another practice who was in shock of our story. We were told the doctor must have really thought we lost the baby but that they themselves take all precautions before performing surgery. They referred us to a high risk doctor to make sure the baby was okay, which wasn't something that was offered to us at Desert West. The high risk doctor was also in shock and based on their u/s, the baby was okay and ensured us that there was no amputations which is a scary thing to think of as a parent. Again, this review isn't done with malicious intent but to help other women who may be now or one day go through the heart break of being told there is no heart beat. ASK AND TAKE ALL PRECAUTIONS. We were told that policies would be changing and I hope for the sake of other women, it has. It was a roller coaster of emotions. Had the ultrasounds been performed like we asked or had the labs been done, I could have avoided unnecessary surgery...We're not having any more children because of everything we have gone through. I'm lucky to be holding our miracle and just want to help other women if it's at this office or not."
