Reviews of Sue Sossaman Early Childhood Development Center
"I have loved my experience here. Starting from the top all the way down. From the time I walked through the door to the time where I'm exiting, I am met with greetings goodbyes by name. The teachers are fully engaged and energetic. My child Loves going to school and loves the kids Club program for afterschool care. Overall, I am very pleased with my experience here and would recommend it if you're looking for a great community to raise your child."
"This location has been nothing but accommodating and kind to our family. My son had a pretty difficult time transitioning to PreK and they did a lot of problem solving before finding the perfect classroom for him. There was constant communication between the teachers, administrators, and myself. I always felt in the loop and felt my son was in great hands. He is now thriving and I’m very thankful for the team effort at Sue Sossaman! Highly recommend."
"Our daughter had a wonderful experience here and my wife had nothing but good things to say about it. We are having our son do his first year of preschool here! Looking forward to it."
"I can not speak highly enough about our experience with this school. We have had fabulous teachers and assistants. And we have been so grateful for the front desk staff and director. We feel valued and special…and our kids beg us to go to school on non-school days. Five stars isn’t a high enough rating!!"
"I've thought for a year about whether or not to write this review, I've finally decided to do it, I don't want another parent to go through what my family went through here. My daughter was enrolled for preschool here for two weeks. At the time she was enrolled we were also in the process of going through a psychological evaluation. My daughter was diagnosed with combination type ADHD. As my daughter struggled to adjust to the classroom setting, her teacher had a difficult time handling the situation, when I arrived to pick up my daughter after an outburst her teacher would not look at our speak to me. I was shocked. My daughter can be difficult and I fully understand that but having a teacher refuse to speak to me as I apologized and tried to assess what was happening was shocking and extremely unprofessional. If a four year old not maintaining control of their emotions upsets you so much you literally will not look at or speak to parents, teaching is not for you. She had another outburst in the classroom the next week, we later found out she was actually having a negative reaction to her first medication but it didn't matter. Despite being transparent with her teacher and the school administration of what was going on through the entire process, we were shown ZERO understanding. After two bad days in the classroom she was abruptly expelled with no warning; a four year old, neurodivergent child, adjusting not only to being in school for the first time but to being medicated for the first time as well was given two chances to behave perfectly and then expelled. Adults with fully developed brains can't even figure it out that fast sometimes. It broke my heart, forced me to take a leave of absence from my job, and it broke my daughter's heart; she as old enough to be fully aware of not being wanted. I'm aware that at that time, my daughter was a challenge to have in the classroom. I understand that it was a difficult situation, I really do, but expelling a child in preschool because of two bad days is not an acceptable choice. At the end of the day, education is for everyone, not just children who are easy. My daughter had every right to experience school like her peers, and the school that could have been an advocate for her gave her her first taste of rejection for having a different brain instead. Thank God it's against the law for public grade schools to simply oust difficult children like this school did with my daughter. This school is a school for able children and able children only. If your child struggles to adjust or has any neurodivergence at all, save them the heart break and go elsewhere. A year later and she has adjusted to her medication, she is happy, she has friends, she loves school and adores her teacher. It turned out all she needed was a chance and a little patience, I'll always remember this school as the place that refused to give her that."
