"I loved living here at Ascend Apartments for 3 years, in apartment 1046. It’s a quiet and relaxing place to live. The maintenance crew was great and usually came the same day or next business day for service. Everything was great until we got our final move out bill and charges. $537.00 after our $250 deposit was taken. We opted to have the apartment/their vendor clean which was $150 for a 2-bedroom apartment. The carpet cleaning done by a third-party carpet cleaning company was $65 and $5 fuel charge. In November we had a ticket request to get our oven display fixed since it was broken. While the maintenance guy (nice, tall, slender man) I asked him about patching up some holes on the wall, and showed him the wall, as we are moving out in December. Mind you I asked him in from of my wife and father-in-law. What do we have to do to get this fixed, so we don't get charged for the holes that were in the second bedroom since I hung up racks to hang up our bikes on the wall. I even walked him into the second bedroom to show him. In addition, I asked about matching up the paint. He said, “if the holes are not bigger than a quarter don’t worry about it and will take care of it, usually people fix it themselves and mess it up even more and it causes more work for us.” I took his word for it and left it as is. We were charged for 3 walls at $30 a piece for patch repair. I could have fixed it myself or hired a professional for cheaper. 1 wall I knew needed patching but what were the other 2 walls? The living room I had one large photo hanging with dry wall screws and 2 nails with 2 small canvases hanging on them but nothing major that should have led to $30 to repair that wall. And what was the 3rd wall? I am not sure what that extra charge could have been. I definitely should not have taken the maintenance guy's word. We were charged $25/wall to repaint 14 walls! The bogus explanation that my wife provided in regard to this was “many times walls are dirty or if you burn candles there’s residue on the walls, so they need repainting. Is it normal to get charged to repaint all those walls? We kept the place clean and tidy without any messes on the walls. In my past experience renting from other apartments, it’s standard for the apartment complex to repaint the bulk of the apartment prior to the next tenant moving in, without laying all of these repaint charges on the tenant that just moved out. Next is the carpet cleaning which we thought was going to be $70. In the end we were charged $160. We had an $85 charge that was named “color restore.” We kept the carpet clean, vacuumed frequently and did not leave any stains. Did this place get charged color restore before we moved in during December 2020? The reason I say that is because this place had used carpet, not new and the entrance to the guest bedroom and the going into the bathroom form the master bedroom has the floor pretty worn down from the previous tenant but also, we didn’t make a big deal about and left it as is. This probably should have been replaced in the first place. So, if they got a color restore added, that will let you know if they're likely doing this on purpose to get extra money out of you. The explanation received for what “color restore” is to “recolor high traffic areas.” The next tenant beware of being charged for something like this if the carpet was not new. Since they did a color restore it wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t replace it. Or imagine being charged for color restore then they rip out the carpet. My wife sent Rain an email inquiring about the charges on our final bill and she set up an appointment for us to come down to discuss the charges. I was sick and I could make it. My wife felt it was a waste of time and none of the charges were reduced. If you move into 1046, I hope they replace the carpet unlike they did with us. If not, you will be charged an additional $85 to your move out bill. We didn’t think we would move out of Ascend, feeling extremely disappointed."
"I lived here for 3 years and enjoyed it, until moving out. They hosed us with move out charges. I’ve lived in several other apartments before and have never had so many charges at any of them. When I went to speak to Rain about it she came off as condescending and basically “it is what it is.” Just beware if you sign a lease here, don’t be surprised if you are charged hundreds of dollars on your move out bill."
"The manager Rain is very rude. She is not friendly or welcoming and puts a bad taste in the company name. Every time I have any encounter with her there is never a smile, it is almost like there is an annoyance towards residents. She is very confrontational without facts to back up her accusations and borderline harasses the residents here including myself. I do not recommend this property or management office."
"I lived here for two years and the community/ location was great. The 1 complaint that I have is with the integrity of the property management company. I knew that I was not renewing my lease 6 months before the end of the lease , so I was in constant communication with the leasing office to avoid any extra “surprise “ charges. I even did the “pre-move out “ walkthrough when I was basically 2 weeks out from moving . There was only the maintenance guys that came and everything I asked a question about possibly being charged , was told “not to worry about it “. When I turned in my keys , i asked again to do a walkthrough and was told no. I receive my move out sheet and was charged for everything I was told “not to worry about”. I reached out and asked for an explanation, which was so carelessly explained . Supposedly someone from corporate followed up with me after I reached out several times and basically with a “oh well” attitude & said , well you got a small refund so you should be happy with that . It wasn’t about the refund to me , it was about what I was initially told and my move out sheet being completed incorrectly . And based off the charges and the pictures/video I have from my move out , none of the charges were valid. I recommended if you are doing a pre-move out walkthrough with maintenance, ask for the manager to be present and record it. So tenants please BEWARE when you move out !"
"We lived at Verde Dimora for two years. As said in one of the positive reviews, the location is outstanding. That's where anything positive I have to say ends. The tissue paper floor gets shredded by moving furniture, and they're sure to charge you upon move out. The parking is RIDICULOUS. In addition to there being too few spaces and being forced to pay $50 for covered and reserved parking, if you don't pay, your car gets keyed, and scratched because the spaces can't fit a standard sedan without being too close to squeeze in once someone parks next to you. They also boast being an energy efficient property which is laughable considering there are no savings that comes from the solar panels above all the covered parking. Our utility bill was higher than my two bedroom home in Tucson. In addition, we tried for two years to get the company to activate the electric vehicle chargers (still listed as an amenity). We went to the office monthly, called corporate offices, called owners, and were finally told they'd changed their minds and would no longer be paying to have them function. They are locked in place and have no power to them. The grounds toward the end also became filthy. As stated by another reviewer, the complex always smells of smoke, even though they are smoke free. Tenants left trash that wasn't picked up for days at a time. The mediation garden's water feature was growing algae. We're fairly certain oil was being dumped on rocks near the second building due to staining of the rocks and soil below. Dog poop was everywhere. The "bark park" is a sliver of rocks at the edge of the property with a weathered wooden bench and riddled with dog poop you smell it before you arrive. I'd hardly call them dog friendly if that's the way they maintain animal spaces. We never had a pleasant experience with office staff, through the 3-4 changes in personnel we experienced while there. Most recently, upon asking for a receipt for my check on moving out, I was called "rude". We could not call in payment. We tried two weeks to have it sent certified mail and it was sent back to us because they never accepted delivery. Frustrated, I went in to pay in person, asked for a receipt and was told they had none. I asked them to sign any paper because I was not leaving without one only to have them potentially come at me later to say we haven't paid. Without acknowledging he began asking for my mail receipt (which I didn't have and didn't understand why he wanted it without any context) I said I didn't understand why he'd need it which is when I was called rude and he said he intended to sign the receipt from USPS. Even the check he signed didn't include his name, only "Verde Dimora" staff. There is absolutely no accountability. Issues are always played off as someone else's fault. We were hopeful it would improve with new ownership; it has not. Very happy to be elsewhere rather than be called rude when I ask staff for help and to do their job."
