"I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel obligated to warn anyone reading this— DO NOT LIVE AT SOL. Most of the gates are unlocked and homeless people easily make their way into the complex to go through our trash cans :) The bathrooms by the gym/lounge are locked 24/7 since “homeless people sleep in there sometimes” (exact quote from office staff)... Here’s a wild thought: fix the gates so they can’t enter in the first place! And fyi, the gym here is actually laughable; it quite literally has nothing! The Sol shuttle to ASU is ‘out of order’ 50% of the time. Management’s priorities are completely out of wack— you’d think they’re here to listen and help you, but they tend to focus on marketing to new residents without batting an eye at their current residents. They don’t even respond to emails (so please don’t reply telling me to email). There are many more complaints I can list but this is already getting long. We were just informed that this week, staff will be routinely entering our apartment to renovate for future Sol residents… WHILE WE ARE STILL ACTIVELY LIVING HERE! Our lease doesn’t end until July, but here we are in March being told to lock up our pets and reorganize the whole apartment to make room for staff to raid and remodel the place. Maybe instead of using your resources to make Instagram posts of random apartments that aren’t even Sol, start providing timely and sufficient communication with your existing residents. I lived at Alight Tempe for 2 years before this and it was a million times better. You’re better off at Vertex or literally anywhere else; just don’t sign that Sol lease."
"ASU STUDENTS WITHOUT VEHICLES DO NOT CONSIDER THIS COMPLEX.....the only reason this place gets a star or even an iota of a compliment is becuase of room/bathroom/closet sizes which are very good. However, they could not care less about the problems in their building whether it be faulty gym equipment, terrible front office personalities and a just generally unhelpful front desk. I think two of the doors around the perimter are actually locked to the outside so there is no elemnt of saftey in the place. Also have fun trying to make a phone call from your room that lasts longer than 5 minutes before your call will drop. The shuttle, which is the only reason any ASU student should choose to live here is not only unreliable but the people who drive the are constantly on their phones and battling their own fits of road rage."
"Edit 12/31/23: I am currently locked out of my apartment, without my extremely important medication, because the app for the new locks is completely incapable of functioning. I spent half an hour trying to get it to connect. I still have not had time to pick up the physical fob because I've had to WORK, and the office is closed for the holiday. Security told me they don't have the resources to help me, said to call emergency maintenance. Emergency maintenance is not a direct call line but rather a voicemail box. It has been 4 hours since I left a message stating that I am completely locked out and my phone was at 5%. NO RESPONSE. I was fortunate enough to have a coworker pick me up for the night but again I am without my medication and no one in the complex to help me. I don't even know if I'll be able to get in tomorrow either! This should absolutely be considered an emergency and I'm P.O.'d that maintenance never got back to me - what if my phone were dead or I had nobody in Tempe to help me? This is completely unacceptable and I'm disappointed that I chose to renew my lease. After 2025 I am out and will not be looking back. Edit 12/30/23: Not sure whose idea it was to install these electronic Bluetooth locks with an app that doesn't work, but it's unbelievably frustrating. I've been late to work because my apartment won't lock and I've been locked out for 20 minutes the last two nights trying to get the app to unlock my door. Haven't been able to pick up the fob because I've been at work the duration of the office hours. Nobody needs "fancy" electronic locks, the classic physical keys are fine and don't need Bluetooth or Wifi to unlock! This is my second lease term here, how is there still not a functional shuttle? It had frequent issues last summer as well and was rarely ever running. I live in a 4bed/4bath which is almost $4k a month between me and my roommates so clearly they make plenty of money, there is no reason to not have working amenities. The package lockers have been out of service for over a week as well and I'm either working or in class during the time the office is open so I have a package sitting in the office I haven't been able to get. The people who work here are only ever able to give the vaguest answers to everything, they're friendly but they're also all college aged and shouldn't be having to manage an apartment complex in their early 20s."
"The rooms of renewals should also be painted at the start of the academic. Also, their bathrooms should be professionally cleaned along side the other bathrooms of their new roommates moving in. It's really the least that can be done for renewals for staying, and being loyal."
"Their renewal policy is stealing money from poor students. We even sign the lease for a higher price than new residents come. It's ridiculous! AND the manager even said that because you have signed up for the renewal, I could only give you a 5 bucks discount every month! I'm a fool to sign up for the renewal immediately. They do the same thing every year. Never trust them and Don't recommend MOVE to SOL."
