Reviews of Cala Paradise Valley Apartments
"Cala paradise village apartments are wonderful! I have lived here for almost 7 months and I am just loving it! :) The staff is friendly, inviting and above all else very welcoming!"
"Signed with Cala before Haven bought the property in late 2022. Less than impressed. Haven’s management is sooo disorganized. I walked into the office 62 days before my lease ended (60 day required notice) because I hadn’t heard anything and they said they were running behind on getting renewal offers out but they’d have them out by the end of the week. They couldn’t tell me what to expect from the offer aside from that, “it will definitely be some kind of an increase.” Great. That definitely makes it easy for me to plan. Didn’t get an offer until well into the next week. Tried to pay rent with a cashiers check in the office one month and the first time I went in, the office was completely empty and unlocked with no sign. Waited for 15 minutes before I just decided to leave. I went in the next morning and there was someone but the guy was like, “Oh I’m just filling in, I can’t take that.” Didn’t say anything else or offer me any solutions. I was like, “… can I get your name?” because I wanted to at least be able to say who I had spoken to if they tried to go and accuse me of not paying my rent. At which point he suddenly decided maybe he would ask me for my name and unit number to leave a note for the manager that i’d been in to pay my rent. Thanks guy. I ended up going month to month so I only had to give a 30 day notice when I left. Went in to give my written notice, same guy as the rent guy was in there, takes it and says okay. I already know that paper’s about to disappear into the nether when I walk out so I ask him for a signed and dated copy. Sure enough, I hear absolutely nothing about my move out and they charge me full rent on the 1st. I called and asked about it, told them I had a dated copy of my notice and thankfully they didn’t give me any issues, but all my official move out paperwork says I gave notice on the 2nd (day I called) so I’m guessing they lost my actual paperwork but the guy remembered me giving it to him and knew I had a copy. Basically, be on top of your own paperwork because they won’t be. Also when I went in to ask if there was a number i could call for security because I’m pretty sure one of my neighbors (or just some guy that was always hanging around, idk if he actually lived anywhere nearby) was habitually jumping my fence to hang out on my porch while I wasn’t home, I was told they didn’t have security and to just call the police. Not terribly helpful when I mostly just wanted someone to do some extra patrols to make sure he wasn’t hanging out there while I was out or asleep. Old management definitely had a security number to call so I guess new management got rid of the security budget. But there’s a community events team now, so I guess it just depends on what you’re looking for in your residence. They also built a dog park while I was living there. Personally, I think the property is too small for a dog park. Definitely got tired of listening to dogs barking 15 feet from my bedroom window, but I can’t blame the dogs for that. If you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet, would recommend living on the east side of the complex. Overall, my apartment was… fine. Definitely not as nice as the upgraded model I was shown when I toured, but the layout was nice at least. I think I was paying too much for what I was getting, but I did sign the initial lease at a bad time for renters so your experience may differ. Be wary of the extra fees- I didn’t have to pay but I know new management installed a smart home package and was adding that as a fairly hefty fee to new leases. I could never actually get any of the “smart” features to sync up with my phone, so if they’re still charging for it, I would say it’s definitely not worth it. The community is in a great area for shopping and running errands. I didn’t hate my time there but I am glad I left."
"What an adorable community! You can walk to Target, Home Goods and Sprouts from your apartment! I toured with Heather, she was so welcoming. I just knew this was my new home. I am really excited about the resident events and hanging out in the hammocks by the pool."
"Man, I’ve got good things to say here. 1: Location- this place is in a good spot for anything you need really. My favorite thing is that Costco is literally 2 minutes away as well as many food and grocery options. 2: The community is great. I’ve met some cool people and they host community life events to keep people involved. 3: Grounds- the pool area is great, as well as the hammock area near it. Theres also a separate hangout area near a different area that’s pretty sweet. 4: Management is solid- they’ll work with you when they can. I recently lost my father and got behind on rent and they gave me time and such to get my stuff together to avoid eviction. I appreciate what they do! I would highly recommend a tour, this place is nice."
"the management changes all the time. they send you off without solving any issues. the staff seems to be uneducated and have no documentation of concerns. no consistency. they let tenants smoke and do nothing when you complain about them smoking in front of your apartment and leave cigarettes everywhere. very disappointed, when it was old management it was way better. 10 months felt like years. maintenance made my roommate and i uncomfortable and very rarely addressed our requests in a timely manner. our toilet overflowed into our apartment and they did not even come until the next day. the call center, NOT maintenance, had to tell us to shut our water off in attempt to help stop the water. your water also will be cold or shut off MOST of the time. if your utilities break, don’t expect to have it replaced with equal, it will be less new."
