Reviews of Bonita Vista Apartments
"I lived here from 3/1/23 to 3/1/24. I will move out when my lease expires. Pros: The apartment manager is much better than most and goes out of her way to help people in all kinds of ways beyond what her job requires. She has to put up with a lot of rude, aggressive tenants. Mary and Bill, her brother, go a long way to making life here more pleasant. Also the location is very central, so you can walk to shops and the bus depot. Rent is based on income and can be very low. The paperwork is not too bad if you are organized. Maintenance is usually timely and somewhat adequately competent. Cons: An unusual amount of rude, inconsiderate tenants here. Not just gossipy and back-stabbing, which is common. Some people stand on the upstairs shared-walkway shouting conversations to people 100 feet away across the courtyard. It’s like someone shouting in your living room for 5-10 mins. I’ve asked them not to do this, but they are too lazy to walk downstairs and have a normal conversation. Secondly, Way too many aggressive dogs on 15’ long leashes or off-leash. Mary fined one tenant whose dog attacked my service dog. In the summer, people have their front doors open, so dogs will charge out at you if you are walking past. There are several polite and genuinely nice people here…best to ignore the rest even when they shout abuse at you, like “YOU CANT WALK THAT DOG UPSTAIRS” (I live upstairs). I suspect some have dementia. Two neighboring complexes are high in violent crime. We get vandalism on our cars, in the laundry room, stones thrown at windows. A few weeks ago, police responded to a shooting 75 yards from my door. This is not a criticism of this complex, since it is not their fault. But it does affect living here, and is a consideration. Inspections are frequent, but brief and painless. But sometimes they do not lock or even properly close the front door on leaving. So I advise being home for them. I had some big veterinary and car repair bills, which meant I had to dig into my savings. They are now going to more than double my rent since they count this as income. Double whammy of big bills and huge rent increase. But I’d already decided to leave because of the aggressive dogs and the violence. If you can live with that, the location and low rent may work for you. Oh, and be sure to insist on a copy of your lease and an inspection sheet so you can note any stains that were present when you moved in. I got neither, and I inherited Several floor and countertop stains which resist all attempts to clean. Management have a habit in most complexes of finding excuses for not giving you back your refundable deposit, as noted by others. Half of the complex is only yards away from noisy bulldozers and cranes doing construction throughout 2023 and probably through 2024. See photos."
"The manager has her favorites . That can do no wrong bldg b has butterfly hanging on outside wall for 2 years and tenant parking only sign that state on it that the space is reserved for a boyfriend of Sandy Banks mgr sit in office and gossip about tenants"
"My apartment was great. Maintenance was great but the on-site manager and the property manager are both bad people I gave a 30-day notice and still did not get my deposit back my apartment was clean and still did not get my deposit back so if you're wanting your deposit back don't clean it and don't give a 30-day notice cuz you're not going to get it"
"My father in law has lived here for 2 years. He is 90 and widowed. It might not be up to "Scottsdale" standards, but for an elderly hearing impaired widower on Social Security, it is affordable and safe. The location is optimal with bus and grocery stores, pharmacies and restaurants within easy walking distance. The staff are not "so called", they are helpful and attentive to elderly tenants. I go to Bonita Vista nearly every day. It is a safe, convenient and AFFORDABLE complex for low income seniors."
"My vehicle was damaged this weekend. my concerns about the care provided have gone unaddressed by the management here. The police were called so that the so called "onsite manager" would leave me alone while I was moving my mother out this weekend."
