"Port Royale is a great place to get scammed. I have had a perfect credit score for over 20 years until now. Below is an outline as to why you should avoid this place, which I sent to the collection agency disputing their charges against me. 1. Paid them everything they are owed. They had access to autopay my account whatever was due and they CHOSE not to; additionally, they never contacted me, either via email, phone, or mail, all of which they have my information, regarding the supposed debt.In all my years I have never been notified, first, of a debt by a collection agency rather than the creditor. 2. The organization uses unsavory business practices to nickel and dime residents. When applying for an apartment, the advertised price was hundreds less than the actual rental price. Port Royale added numerous additional charges forcing me to pay extra to be on first floor (despite it being the only single room unit available; I didn't ask to be on the first floor), facing the desert (which I couldn’t see due to being on the first floor), and I paid extra for a 6 month lease, which runs contrary to why they claim I owe them (see #3). On top of this, I already paid them $250 the first time I attempted to rent from them; however, I did not follow through due to not getting the job. I went back to them when another position became available, but they refused to apply the previous $250 towards the new application, thus I paid them $500 just to apply to be a resident. So I have paid Scotia Group well above not only their listed price but the average price for renting a 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment (roughly $1400/mo). My rent from them was more than my mortgage for a 2 story, 2100 sq.ft., 3 bed 2.5 bath, house in Tucson. 3. They charged me an additional month’s rent (the contested collection charge) claiming that I did not notify them that, at the end of my 6 months contract, I would be vacating. This is a lie. I told them I was only going to lease for 6 months when I signed the contract; I did not mince words, nor did I leave any room for interpretation. I told them that I was looking for a house but couldn’t find one in time for my job to begin, thus I was going to rent from them for 6 months while I searched for a house if I intended to stay in Sierra Vista. The claim that I didn’t notify them is a lie and the whole point of signing and PAYING EXTRA was so that I only stayed for 6 months. It does not make any logical sense to pay an extra fee, every month, for a shortened specified time for a lease, and then continue paying that fee without any intent of extending out the lease so that one could avoid paying the additional fee. In no other rental world does this “If you don’t notify us that you will be finished with this service at the end of the leasing agreement then we will charge you extra” exist. Imagine renting a car for two weeks and the rental company telling you, when you return the vehicle, that you owe them an additional week’s rental fee because you didn’t notify them, in writing, after the first week, that you intended on only renting it for the agreed upon two weeks. This doesn’t make any sense and it is incredibly predatory in nature. 4. Lastly, the living was substandard for pricepoint. There were roaches everywhere. The complex was billed as a “gated community,” however the overwhelming majority of the time the gate was broken and left open and people would piggyback on others coming in with no oversight or security. The walls and ceiling were paper thin to the point where I could hear the person upstairs as if they were in the same room as me. Several nights I was startled awake to sounds of someone coming through my bedroom door, only to realize that person was in the room above me. There was a broken street lamp which constantly flickered through the bedroom window, keeping me up at night. The toilet was constantly moldy from the disgusting water, which was undrinkable. Lastly, the fridge leaked and the dishwasher was built during the Reagan administration."
"I came to these apartments to see about moving in, the first thing I saw was this nasty pool, they are trying to call these luxury homes but they are not and for the price they are not worth it, soon as I said something about the pool and how nasty it was, the women in the office start to change their attitudes towards me , I just said have a great day and walked out. Anyone looking to live here be like me and go somewhere else."
"I lived here for 3 years and it was an amazing stay the entire time. Good location and very friendly staff!! Julie and the staff made sure all needs were handled in an expedited manner!! Any maintenance requests were handled ASAP and property was always kept clean. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to call home!"
"We've been here for 3 months, and we are all so happy that this is where we ended up. Not only have all the neighbors we've met so far been so friendly and welcoming, but the management staff has been the best we've ever encountered. They've been incredibly patient, kind, friendly, and helpful with everything. They're also so quick to respond to any messages we send them. Every time we've been in the office everyone there is always smiling, happy, and willing to help or answer any questions we might have. They all seem happy to do it too; they never seem put out. I have never dealt with such a friendly management staff before. They are AMAZING here! When it comes to the maintenance team here I have only good to say about them as well. They are SO quick to respond, and fix any issue that comes about. When I say quick I mean it. Our washer flooded after hours, so I called the after hours emergency maintenance number, left a message, and they called me back immediately. The guy said he'd be here in 10 minutes, and he made it here at exactly 10 minutes from the time I spoke to him on the phone. They get here when they say they will, they're all friendly, and they're quick about getting anything fixed when needed and they're genuinely good at what they do. Their names are Eddie, Jimmy, and Omar. All in all literally everything here that we've come across so far has all been great! We highly recommend choosing Port Royale if you're looking for an apartment to move in to."
"Port Royal was a great place to live in Sierra Vista! The office staff were always very friendly and helpful. We also received prompt responses the handful of times that maintenance assistance was needed after hours. The dog park, pool, and fitness facility were all great amenities during our time at Port Royal!"
