Reviews of Desert Winds Apartments
"Honestly, I've been writing this review for the past year and a half. I had all this elaborate sentencing prepared, but I am currently at a place where I don't care anymore to list everything. I was going to start from when I moved in, February 2019 when I was 19 years old, and all of the ridiculous moments that happened then, but I'm just going to go off the last couple months. My sister also lived here before I did, and we had damn near the same experience. So no, I am not being dramatic. In all honesty the place has always been pretty bad. I have been trying to leave this place since 2020 but due to financial burdens and it honestly being the only thing affordable for the last couple of years I HAD to stay. Absolutely NOTHING is updated, I have lived in 2 apartments in this building, and both were the same. But my issue really isn't with the way it looks that much, more so with the people that run the place. One of the owners Ed/Edward is EXTREMELY unprofessional. To him EVERYTHING is your fault, literally dies by the motto “if it ain’t broke don't fix it”. You will NEVER see him even though he lives extremely close to the apartments. I have been told by the old landlord, that if you needed something fixed or anything and he's out fishing, Ed would get mad if he was called by the landlord because as tenants, we never had access to Ed. It was impossible to get in contact with him. Dude is really something else and every once in a blue moon you get to see him, he's rude. Everything is half @ssed. (the old landlord) wasn't the greatest, but I will say he and his wife got things done that didn't require Eds assistance. I have sooo many pictures of things that have happened. I had a dishwasher and it never worked correctly and I was told if it stopped working Ed would NOT be replacing it and they would just take it out. So, it stopped working and was leaking constantly, the landlord, "new guy" was called and informed about it multiple times, and no one ever showed up. So, it grew mold and just stayed there. We even offered to get our own dishwasher and we were told no lol, makes no sense. I was threatened to be kicked out because my sister brought her Shitsu dog over for a few moments and he was seen by the "new guy" landlord, and he told me the dog had to leave. I said, “okay I understand he’ll leave now”. Then he proceeded to call my phone back-to-back 4 times to tell me that he “told his boss (Ed) and that I would be kicked out if they EVER saw the dog again and how did I NOT, see that in the lease”. That was absolutely insane to me, because the dog wasn't even mine and yes, I take full responsibility for him being there, but to threaten to evict me is wild. I've also heard and have seen others with dogs before. I was told by the "old landlord" before he left that Ed wanted us out. I find that absolutely hilarious because we were one of his only tenants that did not cause REAL issues. When something was broken or wasn’t right, we would report it and we asked him since you're raising the rent what are you going to update? So, if that's the cause for wanting someone out that's crazy. He raised the rent one year because he had to pay for a leaning carport that WASN’T even replaced. They fixed 4 poles and put door hinges on the wood pieces lol I have a picture as well, it was like that for at least 2 and a half months. We also had a power line fall right by our window. The "new guy" landlord, before he was hired used to smoke weed/ cigarettes( and still does) and him and his girlfriend would be fighting, one night she was banging on the apartment door for like 30 minutes straight screaming for him to “open the door” it was almost midnight, and the "old landlord" is on the older side and someone had to help him up the stairs because he kept getting complaints about it, for it to be stopped. Somehow, he was hired with no background, that I know of, in this to be the landlord, I'm not sure why but I have a theory to that. I'm going to leave the rest of my review on my other account because I'm running out of space lol."
