Reviews of Premier OB/GYN
"I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Hervey and his team. Throughout the 8 months of prenatal appointments, I have encountered countless others (nurses, nurse practitioners, pelvic floor therapists, friends, and family members) who heard we were working with Hervey’s team and were instantly excited because they had such wonderful experiences with his team in their own care or working alongside him as a care team member. There’s many great things I could say, but I’ll limit to these six: 1. At each appointment with Dr. Merrell or Dr. Hervey, they are present and do not rush the process. They kindly and patiently answer all questions, giving all the time that is needed. 2. They provide a great deal of choice throughout the entire process (even in the delivery process) and will not do any procedure unless you are asked permission prior. 3. Dr. Hervey makes every effort to be present during his clients’ labors (he was present for ours on very short notice). This is a rarity in the OB field, and such a sacrifice on his part to provide this level of service to his clients. 4. The experience of labor can be one of the most intense & stressful life experiences - throughout it all, Dr. Hervey’s demeanor was kind, calm, patient, and knowledgeable. His demeanor helps calm both client and partner in labor - an experience I didn’t think was possible. 5. The new office space is beautiful - any previous negative reviews about the office were likely related to a transitionary office and not the current space. 6. The team is extremely knowledgeable and takes a holistic approach, constantly thinking of needs of baby/family and developing a plan that is suitable to them. I would highly recommend Dr. Hervey and his team to anyone who is looking for an OB or midwife."
"This review is long overdue, but I would be doing a disservice to Dr. Hervey if I didn’t advocate for his practice and his level of care publicly, the way he advocated for me and my family during my pregnancy. My very first interaction with Dr. Hervey was on a Sunday—yes, a Sunday—when I called his office’s emergency line as a newly pregnant woman with UTI symptoms. From experience, I expected a nurse or another staff member to answer, take note of my concern, and get back to me after consulting with the physician. To my surprise, Dr. Hervey himself answered. On a Sunday. I remember enthusiastically texting my partner, as I was speaking to Dr. Hervey, and telling my partner “you wouldn’t believe it, DR. HERVEY answered my emergency call?! It’s Sunday!!!” We were both SHOCKED, and that very first interaction was the last one we had before he saw me at Banner University for what would be an incredibly long hospitalization and premature delivery. Dr. Hervey saw me at my literal lowest. The pain I was experiencing was out of this world. I truly didn’t think I’d make it. I had a debilitating combination of symptoms that didn’t match up to one single diagnosis, and was almost completely unresponsive to nearly all treatments. But he never gave up on trying to help me make it to the finish line as comfortably as possible. Of all the horrific and gruesome memories I have from the weeks I spent admitted pre-delivery, the one that stands out the most is the night Dr. Hervey saved my life. It was late at night. I was shaking from pain, crying like a feral animal. I texted him, through his personal cell that he gave me on day 1 of my admission, and I told him in as many words that I can’t make it through the night in the pain I was in. I was giving up on fighting through the end of my pregnancy that night. I can’t recall if he responded or not, but I remember seeing him walk through the door well into the middle of the night and feeling a glimmer of hope. He found me as I had been for hours that day, sobbing in agony. The pain was so severe I was starting to hallucinate. In a moment where it felt like absolutely no one understood the magnitude of pain I was in, I felt believed by him. He may not have physically understood, but he believed me. He didn’t make me feel hysterical. He validated that the pain I was in was unsustainable. And he listened to me, stood next to me and held my hand, rubbed my shoulder, reassured me endlessly, and worked on a new treatment plan with the nurses. He treated me like a human, and not just a patient. That night is permanently etched in my brain. In hindsight, I was initially [wrongly] frustrated at the long wait I had in his office at my first appointment, but that night was proof positive that the wait wasn’t in vain. In the time I was waiting, another patient was receiving the same level of extremely compassionate and human care from Dr. Hervey that I needed from him that night, and knowing that, I can never complain about his appointment wait times again. I now know that as I’m waiting, other patients are experiencing the incredible level of un-rushed care that he provides, and that makes it worth it. After our daughter was born at 34w, Dr. Hervey came to see her in the NICU exactly a week after he delivered her. I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed…and did I say I sobbed?! Because I SOBBED, when I saw him. I was once again in disbelief that a doctor cared about his patients *this much*, that even when I was no longer actively his patient, as I had been discharged at that point, he went out of his way to come visit us in the NICU and check on me. Unprovoked. He will always have a patient in me. I can’t recommend him enough. He is the blueprint of what true compassionate, patient centered care looks like, and the standard of what healthcare in this country should be for all patients."
"I drove an hour to see Dr Hervey each visit through my pregnancy and he didn't even make my delivery. I had a tear that wasn't sewn right away and it caused me 10+ weeks of pain and I now have to get the skin removed. The office lacked cleanliness, there were never paper towels or hot water, and when you get weighed, you stand literally a foot away from everyone's open pee cups. I consistently waited 45-90 minutes for my appointment. Andddd I had to be the one to remind them to test me for gestational diabetes. Dr Hervey was nice and pretty informative but I wish I would have found an office that was more upkept and a doctor that would have shown up for my delivery."
"Dr. Hervey is the best medical provider I have encountered. He is truly unlike the rest. He listens to and empowers his patients. He has such respect for the pregnancy and birthing experience. I switched to him mid way through my pregnancy after a very poor experience elsewhere and when I did a consult with Dr. Hervey (after being recommended to him by multiple other people including those in the Healthcare field themselves) and it was the breath of fresh air I needed. I was literally emotional afterward because I thought, wow, this is what medical care is supposed to be like. I would highly suggest Dr. Hervey and his practice to anyone. My experience with him throughout my pregnancy, during my labor and delivery, and since then as a gyno patient has been beyond my expectations and I'm truly grateful."
"I just recently had a baby and I can’t say enough good things about this practice and Dr. Hervey. I didn’t feel well taken care of in my first pregnancy (not at this practice) and I came to this practice with a lot of nervousness and anxiety because of that experience. Every single provider I encountered at this practice was stellar and had fantastic bedside manner. Dr. Hervey was extremely thorough and always made sure to listen, and take my concerns and birth plan into account. At delivery something serious came up and I was so incredibly impressed at how he handled an urgent situation and made sure me and my baby were safe. Dr. Hervey is a brilliant doctor and I won’t trust anyone else to deliver my babies but him. Love this practice and all the staff, will for sure go here in my next pregnancy."
