"We were staying in Apache Junction and were looking for things to do. We enjoy air museums so went over for a look. Very nice museum but smaller than a lot we have been to. They have a lot of detail on the history of planes involved in warfare. They also have planes that are flyable and for a fee you can arrange to go up in one."
"Warbirds from just about every generation on display, along with iconic American helicopters. That’s before you even get to the famous bombers, B-17 “Sentimental Journey” and B-25 “Maid in the Shade” — both if which fly to this day. There is also the large C-47 parked outside which is visible from the street. You can purchase cockpit tours where a docent will take you through three of the cockpits on some of the aircraft inside, or crawl through the massive B-17 entire inside for free. What a great value, especially for kids and adult aircraft enthusiasts."
"Outstanding museum. Great if you’re an avid aviation enthusiast. You can walk right up to all the planes on display and really look into them and see the small details you normally can’t see when the aircraft are behind ropes. I really enjoyed looking at the hinge mechanisms on all the naval aircraft. The folding wing hardware has always fascinated me. You are encouraged by the staff to walk out into the restoration hangar and can go inside and crawl around in the bomber in there. Additionally you can go out onto the ramp and look at the aircraft out there as well."
"They have an amazing collection of military airplanes and helicopters from WW1 to the Vietnam War. Some of them including the B-17, B-25 bombers, SNJ and Stearman trainers and the C-47 and C-45 transports you can purchase a flight in. There are a couple of aircraft you that you can sit in the cockpit, with a tour guide escort. Including their exhibits it’s a good collection that will take a half day to see it all."
"The collection of historic planes cover over 100 years of aviation. Airbase Arizona has been serving the community for over 44 years and hosts the worlds largest collection of historic planes. Besides the memorabilia on display, the museum gives rides in these planes and tours throughout the country. Thank you to docent Ted Lindseth for leading us through aviation history with your stories and vast knowledge."
