Reviews of Mt Lemmon Lodge
"Let's just say this is a filthy, poorly constructed, pet project. Period. I am embarrassed to say we stayed here a second time, once last summer and last night for Valentine's Day. We were still hopeful. Last summer our experience was very poor and rather than going to Google, we went to the owner who basically gave us "the bird" ALL pun intended...she will get the Tucson drift. We made a second attempt by staying last night, and good God folks, either stay home or stay next door for half the price and walk over, its open to the public! If you choose to take on this endeavor...be warned! The parking lot is inaccessible (see photos), no car except a go cart can fit. There is nowhere to unload, you can't open your doors. We had to take everything out a small crack,. Honestly it was a true 11-point turn to get in, and a 21-point turn to get out. We had to crawl over the tops of our seats to get to the driver and passenger seats as the doors cannot be opened. Listen folks, your car is very likely to get damaged in this lot for real, either with you trying to get in or out, or someone else smashing into it. It's filthy, and I mean filthy. Wads of hair, hair in the bed, dead bugs, toothpaste not cleaned old lotion all over the dispenser... (see photos) Gross. Like sticky gross. The walls and ceiling/floors are paper thin. There is no insulation so you literally can hear EVERYTHING...and I mean EVERYTHING!!! Walking, running, stomping, vacuuming, laundry running, talking, urinating and well...you get the idea...EVERYTHING. Apparently, since our visit last summer, the cure for this is now what is called the "quiet zone" as you can see posted in the hallways (see below) ...what on earth does that mean LOL. If safety is a concern for you, you might want to skip this property. There is no one who works at the front desk at night. The doors are open and unlocked 24 hours a day, including the floors where the rooms are located. Literally anyone can enter. We were dead asleep at 8am, having enjoyed our Valentines at the property, we got a call from the front desk warning us that the smoke alarms were going to be tested. LOL. I mean can it get any worse? Actually, it can. They did not test the alarms; it was just a "maybe". OMG. And BTW like other reviews have stated, the bright green flashing light from thus said smoke alarm is so bright at night it's like a strobe...beware. Honestly, it's like someone's hobby or weird snobby project with no consideration at all for guests and certainly there is no skill in hospitality. Where is Gordon Ramsay when you need him? Just because you "can" open a hotel, doesn't mean you "should" open one. To be fair, to save future guests the frustrations we have experienced and have to write a less than satisfactory Google review as this is the only avenue for complaints, just VISIT the Mr. Lemmon Lodge, don't stay overnight. Pray you can find parking on the mountain, go up and grab a sandwich at Beyond Bread (which is always yummy) ...but be prepared, it may take in upwards of an hour to get a sandwich if its packed. As you can see, the owners/staff do not respond to anything less than a 5-star review. So as history has shown, no one will even sniff even a hollow apology our way. Best of luck. P.S. Anyone ever heard of theft proof pillows? Ya I didn’t think so. Difficult to sleep on, make no mistake."
"Newly opened. Friendly. Relaxing. Great for family get away. Still kinks in coverage for people and tasks. Sauna is great but they turn on only to use as someone asks and even though it kinda gets warm, there isn't time to really warm the entire thing up so 3-10 on that. Restaurant food is very good. Room service is only by request and they don't empty garbage or anything unless you ask."
"The Lodge is a fantastic addition to the Summerhaven community. It is comparable to good establishments in Colorado ski communities. Food is provided by Beyond Bread with many delicious choices. When I left my hat in the Lobby, the front desk has been observant and called me up. Great catch."
"We so badly wanted to love this place. I’ll start by saying the room and building was very nice. Comfy enough beds, large rooms, and nice balconies. The issues we had was with the service and general management policies. Essentially, 90% of the amenities are open to the public, which means you’re fighting with half of Tucson for a place on the deck/by the fire pit and waiting 45 minutes for a cold sandwich from Beyond Bread (not an exaggeration). Most of the weekend we asked ourselves, what was the point of paying $300/night when we could’ve stayed next door at the Mt Lemmon Hotel for less than half the price and walked up and enjoyed all the amenities the same way. In addition, people camped out for hours on the deck, bringing outside food in and taking up the only lounge chairs. Hotel management should really consider what services they are providing to their guests. If it’s solely a parking spot and a room, then I think the price needs to be cut drastically. If the price stays the same, I hope management will consider separating out guest-only space, potentially limiting Beyond Bread to hotel guests after a certain time in the evening, or closing the public spaces to non guests in the evening. We won’t be back unless things really change because it is not worth what you are paying. The next time we want to stay in Summerhaven, we’ll just stay next door, save money, and still get the same experience."
