"Should be 0 stars. Have you ever been so frustrated that you want to cry? Multiply that by 1000, and that's the level of aggravation you will feel dealing with the customer service of both BCBS and Optum not knowing even the correct information to file a claim. I've been trying to get two claims resolved since AUGUST OF 2023. They've given me the wrong information multiple times, wasting HOURS of my time, not being able to find a claim that has now been filed 13 times. The multiple emails they gave me for reimbursement DO NOT WORK. Their information is not up to date. The stupid automated response to these reviews will tell you alone they don't have the time of day to give you. This is the most disorganized insurance company, EVER."
"Sad but customer service is terrible. If you don't fit into the very few options, it takes forever to get to a human. Then the wonderful people who are outsourced, try very hard but I had a hard time understanding them as I have hearing issues. After 30 minutes and 3 transfers, my call was dropped. It's the companies system not the employees. Blue Cross/Blue shield really needs to improve their system."
"If I had known BCBS AZ was in contract negotiations with Dignity Health that could mean we’d lose our coverage with a provider we rely on I would not have chosen them during open enrollment. I can’t even express how infuriating this is. Please DONT bother trying to give some lame excuse or advertise your stupid specialized care. This has an incredible impact to many people and I don’t understand how there aren’t regulations to prevent this behavior without any warning. October can’t come soon enough. Shame on you!"
"THE MOST HORRIFIC INSURANCE COMPANY MONEY CAN BUY… If my review helps at least 1 person change their mind on using Blue Cross of AZ I feel like im doing the world justice. This company just plain sucks. Absolute worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The staff that answers the phone has a 5th grade education tops. When I would have to call them I would immediately ask to speak to a higher up. If you don’t ask to speak to a higher up then they throw you around to a bunch of different departments and nobody knows the answer. I’ve never had to get so many prior authorizations in my life and Blue Cross broke the record for that I had to get at least 1 per month with them. Please save yourself from this company and DO NOT USE THEM!"
"This is a horrible insurance company. Their incompetent customer service staff lied to me about coverage after spending about two hours on the phone with customer service confirming that a provider would be covered under my insurance plan. They even stated that they had contacted the provider to confirm that they accepted my insurance plan. Then after several months Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona inevitably denied my insurance claim for my young child for preventative care, thus leaving me on the hook for over $400 doctor bill. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This place sucks and their customer service staff should NEVER be trusted to provide truthful information to clients or providers. In addition to their slimly, scaly business practices. Their provider lists are terribly maintained and have stated multiple times to me that they do not maintain those lists, the provider maintains them. So their list of providers includes those that have expired medical licenses, moved away, or don't exist. This insurance company is a total waste of time and money."
