"I bought my new kilt here last year at the Scottish Gatherings in Pleasanton. My new kilt did take some time but let's face it, covid, customs, the fact that it's made in Scotland and had to ship here, all takes time. It was gorgeous! Royal Stewart 8 yards and heavy. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it was mismeasured or I lost weight or both but it just didn't fit. I brought it back this year and they very graciously are reworking it for me. So far I'm a fan. "Say goodbye to your special day! I ordered a new $999 kilt to be made in Scotland with this company on 28th Feb 2022. I hear nothing from the company for several months so in July 2022 I reached out to see what the status was. I hear nothing. I reached out again a few weeks later. I hear nothing. I reached out again later in August 2022, and eventually Coy returns the correspondence with the announcement of a delay. He explained it will likely be another 4 to 6 weeks. I contacted them again 2 months later and was told the estimated time for the kilt would now be mid November. I reached out to them at the end of November and was told it was still in production. Now don’t forget I ordered this in February, missed wearing it for formal occasions during 2022 and now becoming worried they would miss my 50th Birthday celebration at the end of January 2023. Even at this stage I thought there is no way it can take almost a year to make. I chased Coy again on 12th December asking if I should be worried about my big event and was told the fabric was now with the kilt maker, saying he didn’t believe there was going to be a problem to get to me on time. At the beginning of January 2023, I actually drove over to the store in Scottsdale (an hour round trip) to talk to them and ensure they were escalating this mess appropriately. The next day Coy sent me a message saying he is still waiting for an update. Followed by a message later in the week telling me the horrible news that there was a problem with the fabric at the weavers and it’s going to take months to complete the order, almost a year after I placed it. He promised me ‘to make this right’ and find me a backup kilt with my family tartan, ready for my special event in the coming weeks. On 26th January I received a call and message saying he has the backup kilt. I had very little faith that this would happen as the communications were rubbish as always. I had already left the country to attend my Birthday event abroad. So, I was distraught that even my own special occasion was ruined by these completely unprofessional people. Three months later I contacted them again for an update. I was told ‘all on track.’ I contacted them again another 2 months later and eventually told on 8th May that the order was complete and to come to the store to pick it up. I drove to the store, to be told he made a mistake, and it was someone else’s order. You can’t make this up! This experience was appalling. I thought they were going to make it right, not horrifically worse. I sent a message to Coy the day after to explain my next occasion to wear the kilt is later in August 2023. If there are any further issues, I want a refund. Today, the 19th July 2023, the kilt arrived which I picked up. I’m providing you with all the facts about this outrageous experience. If you have important events to go to and need a kilt made, these are not the people to deal with. The communications, lack of tenacity to advocate for the customer and escalate problems that arise, shocking customer service, and overall brilliant ability to ruin your special occasions are all reasons to keep away from Claymore Imports – They are a disgrace. Claymore Imports you didn’t make it right – You may not care about your customers but I do, which is why I write reviews."
