Reviews
"The venue is really nice and the show was great. I give it 3 stars because I cant get over how expensive everything was. 18$ for a margarita? 18$ for a salad? It was just my daughter and I, and I spent over $100 on practically nothing. In addition, they charged an extra 10$ for VIP seating and I did not pay that but was literally up against the stage. And then on top of that, after spending 150 on 4 tickets, they sent me an email that day offering free tickets to that nights show. SUPER disappointing. But we still had a blast."
"Brittany Brave was the headliner during my most recent visit. Hilarious if I do say so myself. Menu items are ridiculous so if you plan on going to a show, make sure you are planning on taking at least $100 with you. The atmosphere was great and the seating was even better. I will definitely be back soon."
"2/3/24: My sister and I came here for the 2:00 pm Harry Potter themed drag brunch. First time at the Improv and first drag brunch, too. Will we go back? Short answer: no! Nor will we be going to any future FlipPhone drag events, but we will go to another drag show. Parking: what a freaking nightmare. That alone ensures we will never return to Desert Ridge. Punctuality: I called ahead of time and was told the doors would open between 1:00 and 1:30 for the 2:00 show time. Arrived about 1:15, was told closer to 1:30. It then became 1:40. Doors did not open until 2:00. Food & drinks: misleading menu online and overpriced! When we looked at the menu online, it was all for the Copper Blues next door. Everything sounded good and was reasonably priced. BUT WAIT -- upon arrival, the menu was not from Copper Blues and the drink prices were not listed. That should have been our first red flag. The menus were themed for Harry Potter, which was kinda cool. When I asked our server, Shelby, he did confirm that we did not have to buy alcohol to meet the two-drink minimum. We could go with a bottomless $15 soda. With that, I thought the cocktails would be reasonably priced. WRONG! They were upwards of $17 and not even close to being worth that much. My sister ordered the croque madame loaded tots and I the lemon ricotta pancakes. The tots were plentiful for sure, but she only ate about half because she said they started to taste off & upset her stomach. When my meal was delivered it was clearly the chocolate chip pancake plate -- and those pancakes were flatter than a dollar bill. Shelby corrected the error and delivered the lemon ricotta pancakes. I wish I had taken pictures so you would see how badly presented the food was and how flat the 'cakes were. Entertainment: the Queens were all right but 1) I did not realize they would be lip syncing, and 2) I expected more dancing vs just gyrating, with arms all akimbo and legs kicking. Seems they were more interested in just taking your money vs actually performing. Maybe some of them were last-minute add ons to the lineup, or it was a new routine, but jeezy Pete, they were all off on the lip syncing. A toddler could have done better. Final say: no, we most definitely will never return to the Desert Ridge Improv or attend a FlipPhone event, but the experience has piqued my desire to attend more drag shows."
"Supposed to be seated at 6. They let us in 640 which was problematic because we were planning to order food. The tables were all seated facing each other not towards the performer. We were so squished together! My hamburger arrived after the show started and my drink arrived at 730, waaaaaay after I had finished my burger! Then the server wanted charge me for another drink on the way out! I barely even got the first one before the show ended (which my husband had to ask for) Which made it great was the show. But management needs to get their act together. And seating is terrible to watch the show. We also waited 15 min after everyone had left to pay our bill. We could have just left but we waited a super long time. Not sure what took so long. They were almost finished bussing all the tables by the time our bill came. We had no problem bill either. Very odd. Just sitting and waiting…."
"Flip phone Drag show itself was a 10 out of 5 stars. The food menus was limited but tasted delicious. The drinks were a bit expensive but were made strong, so that made up for it. Overall the experience was great. The only issues was start time was advertised at 2pm but they didn’t start letting in bf 2pm. And then there really wasn’t enough time to get food or drink orders in before the performance started. Our table didn’t receive our food until essentially the shows intermission. And it took our first round of drinks even longer to get out. Which was disappointing because other tables around us were on their 2nd round of drinks. With a few of adjustments like having each table pre-stocked with water carafes and glasses. And in general timing of service could make all the difference in the world. Overall the performs more than made up for the couple service hiccups. Definitely worth a visit when Flip Phone is in the house!"
