Reviews of Casa Filipina Bakeshop And Restaurant
"I'm a little disappointed with this place. How can you look another Filipino in the eye and give him skinless longanisa. Lol. That's like ordering q burger and getting it in lettuce instead of a bun. I'm jappy to find a Filipino place in AZ that has longsilog but they use skinless longanisa. Garlic rice did not taste the most fresh. A few bites had that taste right before rice spoils. Not sure if they reheated the garlic rice for used old white rice. I suspect the latter. This place should do well but it's a little outdated. The food wasn't that bad. The kaldereta was actually pretty good. I think with a little redesign, this place can do well. The food, except skinless longanisa, was very good."
"Although we did not sit down in the restaurant, we took our food to go. The restaurant was quiet and nicely decorated. No one was in the restaurant anyway, it was empty on a Saturday @1:15-1:30 pm. I ordered the chicken isasla, and it was good until I saw that my chicken was undercooked. The egg rolls were good, and the pork belly was good at least."
"We stayed knowing there would be a wait due to a large group and that was not an issue at all. First, the gentleman took our order and added something we had not asked for but caught it before we sat down. Lumpia was great! Sadly, the only great I can say. We ordered chicken adobo and a stewed beef. After about a 20 min wait, the stewed meat came out and told the chicken would be right out. 15 min later and no chicken. So now my meal was cold and my husband didn't have his meal. Now, 2 employees/owners walked past us several times and not a word. I finally stopped the gentleman and asked how much longer it would be, and he looked at me, questioning, you haven't gotten your other order?...clearly seeing that only one of us had a plate. At this point, my meal was cold, and the experience really ruined the meal. As we went to pay, we were asked how we liked it? We said not that much and was asked why. An attentive owner would have already known why. You served 1 person at the table and probably gave the other meal to someone else but left us waiting 15 minutes. We espessed that despite the meat being tender, it was too vinegary for our taste. We would have expected a response like, that is our style, sorry you did not enjoy it. Instead, we got a bit of a defensive attitude and...well that is our style, and lots of people like it. I am certain a lot of people like the place due to the reviews, but you asked US why WE didn't like it. We have no plans to return, but I would hope that you take just a bit more consideration on how to treat new customers. I am sure the food is good, but the experience ruined it for us."
"This place is very nostalgic. They offer both food and pastries at this location. The food is reminiscent of food my mother cooked growing up. The food was cooked fresh and well seasoned. The pastries are delicious, a bit pricey but worth it. If you are Filipino or craving Filipino food it’s a must"
