"I visited here on Saturday afternoon for the lunch, and got seated after around 50 min wait. The Chimichengha with sun-dried beef was great, and the salsa was good, too. But the chip was stale, and the margaritas were very light. The worst part was the steel chair they provided in the front area of the restaurant. The chair was very bad, thus my back hurt, and the seat cover was very dirty. I may take out the food to the hotel or to the car next time. Is it worth the visit and the hassle? Yes, but only one time. I would not visit again for my next trip to Tucson."
"Great food and great experience trying El Charro for the first time. The history of the restaurant is very cool! The food was good. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu. Good portion sizes, too. Some true, authentic Mexican dishes here! Definitely would recommend it. PS. Make a reservation, or you'll be waiting for a long time. Also, the parking lot is pay to park."
"#Overrated. Food was very salty and not very good. Chips were stale. Salsa was good (but be sure to ask for the mild if you don't like spicy salsa, which comes standard). There can be a long wait for a table even on weekday nights. They refuse to serve food in the bar/lounge, even though there is plenty of space to eat there. Parking is only on street and is subject to plugging the parking meter until 6pm. Food portions were large, but it was a quantity over quality type situation. Drinks weren't the best. Poor wine options. Interior ambiance was a bit disappointing compared to our expectations. Service was the only redeeming factor. Waiter was attentive and apologetic for the subpar food but also didn't offer any concessions off the bill. As a side note, your clothes will be smelling of this place for hours after you leave. A very distinct smell... Very unusual coming out of a restaurant having your clothes smell so pungently..."
"The food was fantastic, and particularly tacos and tamales. They deserve the 5 stars in my book. The only thing that could be better is service; our waitress attended to us very well but the host waitlisted us (at 2pm when they had open tables) and sent us to their bar next door only to get a table few minutes later. Pretty much everyone seemed to be getting sent to the bar- to me it all seemed like a way to get you to spend more, which is fair but takes away from the experience if you’re there for the food only. Hope I’m just reading too much into it."
"This place is too perfect if you ask me. The service, fantastic. The location and decor, amazing. The food, out of this world. It is a crime that this place is this good! The food came together perfectly from chips and salsa to the main course. We got a window seat which was lovely midday."
