"Went on a busy Friday night and were seated right away. Our waitress was so hospitable, friendly, attentive and went the extra mile. The food came out quickly, hot and fresh. I've lived in Tucson for 7 years and was never able to find truly authentic New Mexican food until now! Every time I go to New Mexico, I find myself wishing I could bring the food back with me. Now, I'll remember Goyitas. The food is so good and the people working are truly wonderful. This place is seriously underrated and a hidden gem. We were a little skeptical about the reviews but I'm so glad we gave them a chance. We couldn't help but compliment the waitress and told her we were puzzled by the negative reviews on Google. She said that they had a tough time when they opened but they've improved since then. I have no complaints and this was one of the best meals and service I've had in the state of AZ."
"This place was a trip. After walking in I noticed very few people dining. I also observed a sign that stated please wait to be seated. I stood there for 10 minutes. After making eye contact with three different employees I took it upon myself and sat at the bar. Finally I was asked if I would like a seat. I stated that I was fine here and she left for another 10 minutes before taking my drink order. When she returned I placed my regular order along with the drinks. I ordered two ground beef tacos with a side of beans and rice.... tough stuff. I then waited 45 minutes. The waitress stated that the order got mixed up and that she was sorry for the confusion. While waiting an elderly party of 6 came in. Same thing happened with them, just stood there for ten minutes. Thank goodness they had a lad like me to talk with. When they finally were approached they stated that they had a party of 6. The employee almost had a mental break down about this. They stated that they did not have the seating capacity to support this. They ended up leaving, they were the lucky ones. Finally after an additional 20 minutes I received my food. The food itself was greased to high hell. The taco shells were stale. I asked for some more salsa and the waitress stated that it was an additional charge. So after about an hour and forty five minutes I escaped but I'll never forget my time at this place. It's almost funny how terrible it was and has no buisness being open."
"Chicken enchilada plate for lunch was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. Sterile sports bar atmosphere. Lots of space between tables gives an open, uncrowded feeling. Staff was friendly and attentive. They were busy but our food was served within a reasonable amount of time. Liquor license doesn't arrive until mid February. Pricing is about average."
"Lived in Albuquerque for 11 years and really came to love NM cuisine. Usually "New Mexican" means NEW Mexican, so it's a disappointment. When we came to Sahuarita to visit and found out that there was a NEW New Mexican restaurant, we were thrilled. Although the reviews were mixed and troubling, we approached our visit to Goyitas with the understanding that this was a new restaurant and may have some kinks to work out, but our love of the cuisine trumped the concerns. It was much worse than we could have ever anticipated. It was lunch time (12:30) on a Friday. As we approached the door, there were taped up signs saying 'wait to be seated.' When we entered, there was no hostess/greeter or any indication that there was a place to check in. There is a bar along the left wall that was unfinished, apparently for the lack of liquor license. That was no problem for us, just an observation. The restaurant was pretty big, busy and the tables were spaced very well apart. Three workers were rushing around between tables, and a young man saw us, raised his finger to acknowledge us, as if to say, "just one moment" and then went on about his business. There was one other group waiting, a group of five. After about 15 minutes with no further interaction with anyone, he came and sat them, then eventually sat us as well. And then we waited again for at least 10 minutes before a server took our drink order and brought really, really overcooked, tasteless, unsalted chips and some runny, non-descript salsa. We were a party of three -- one ordered a combo with tacos and enchiladas, one ordered chicken-stuffed sopapillas and I ordered chile rellenos smothered with red chile. The server advised that the red chile sauce was really hot. At least 20 minutes later, the server came back and told us they were out of chile rellenos. I got a menu and ordered pork in red chile sauce. She came back soon after and said they were also out of pork. So I ordered chicken enchiladas smothered in red chile. When our food was delivered, the stuffed sopapillas were fresh and crispy but the dish itself was extremely disappointing: dry shredded chicken, iceberg lettuce and tomatoes. I've had stuffed sopapillas hundreds of times and it's always smothered with red or green chile, eaten with a knife and fork. These resembled pita pockets, not a hint of the seasonings that make New Mexican cuisine so special. The taco plate was good. The red chile really was hot (but I loved it!). We ordered sopapillas (they come 3 to an order) for dessert. They were HUGE, crispy and hot. There is so much potential for this place and I hope the owners are able to scramble to get it together quickly so that the restaurant is successful. I wanted to like it so badly--I want to be able to go again on my next visit to the area, but my review is based on this visit. I will happily update it if things turn around."
"I was excited because after living in New Mexico for 12 years I have developed a taste for green chile. Now for the good part of the meal. Our waitress was excellent. I ordered the chile relleno plate which was served with refried beans and rice. My chile rellenos were flat with hardly any cheese filling. They were served dry instead of being smothered with sauce. One of the chile's was full of seeds. The rice was pretty good, but the beans were too salty. All in all not very appetizing. My Wife had the cheese enchiladas with green chile. They were satisfactory, but not New Mexico good. It took over an hour to get our food. The atmosphere was sterile and not very inviting. Every time the door was opened a cold breeze blew the napkin off of my lap and we were in the middle of the restaurant. There was a thermostat on the wall near our table, it registered the temperature at 64 degrees. We had our jackets on. There was no host or hostess to greet and seat customers and people were standing by the door hoping someone would acknowledge them and seat them."
