Loon Lake Loop Trailhead

"Trail is quite narrow, but there were little to no people there. Hiked 14+ miles. Make sure you take water proof shoes or changes of socks for one route and the other route hopefully you have good balance for a small creek you cross by walking on a log, otherwise down you go and wet you get. The sightseeing is amazing. The military bomber out there is an interesting story."

"Beautiful mountain scenery. We did the loop (in on 81 and out on 80). Trails aren’t wide. Some uphill climbing. Encountered mountain bikes and dirt bikes so had to step off the trail. 80 had a lot of tree roots, rocks, and mud. The scenery was amazing despite the fallen trees from forest fire. The trek down 84 toward the bomber was worth it. We did have to cross the creek and climb over fallen trees to get to the bomber. Our day ended at 18 mikes."

"The trailhead appears well maintained. Vault toilets were clean and the picnic tables were the perfect spot for our post-bike meal. Ample space for parking and there’s easy access to the creek below."

"Great loop for intermediate hikers. Definitely go to the west side of the lake to get to the bomber, and I'd recommend going back that direction, too. The south and east side of the lake trail is all bushwacking with no defined trail. The walk back along the Secesh River is beautiful!"
