"Review I saw a neurosurgeon about the effects that CMT has had on my walking and balance. I was very stubborn and frustrated when he told me that he thought I needed to try AFOs. I told him I would “never” wear braces. On the CMT site, I came across a video about carbon fiber braces. I was impressed by what the doctor on the video had to say, so I did more research. Upon research I felt that I should find someone to talk to. I found that Advanced Orthotics and Prosthetics in Nampa, Idaho worked with carbon fiber braces, so I made an appointment. When I arrived at my appointment, I was greeted by Andrea, who was so kind, helpful and friendly. I was introduced to Caleb who patiently listened to “all” of my stubbornness, frustrations, concerns and skepticism about braces. Caleb patiently answered so many questions. He assessed me to see what he felt I needed. He has always been honest with me but never pushy. We had several appointments before ordering braces that I thought I would never order. I have had the braces for almost a year now. Caleb has always been quick and willing to make any needed adjustments. I have learned to trust what he says. From the beginning, he has always let me make the final decisions, but I have found that he has been correct in what I have needed. "My dad, Dallas and I are singing the praises of Jaime! We came in to the appointment with the simple goal of receiving a shoulder brace. We received much more. Jaime guided us in the use of the brace, listened carefully to our questions, and set clear expectations as to what the brace would and wouldn’t be able to do. As we were leaving, we mentioned some of our frustrations with his current ankle brace. She examined the situation and promised us she could provide a better brace. Jaime with the support of the tech team created a leg brace that supports his ankle and holds his knee. This new brace will keep the knees from buckling, which has been a problem in the past.
