"***Before I posted this review, which I wrote a week ago, I decided to call the office again and give them one last chance. I called them Monday (7/18) of this week, it is now the evening of Thursday (7/21) with no return phone call.*** The stars given were for the visit itself. I was unable to attend due to the way the clinic scheduled clients (which I will discuss below) and unable to take off work >45 days in advance at my current workplace. My S.O. went and only had good things to say regarding Dr Kerschen and her attentiveness to our child. Her appt was basically half a day and multiple evaluations were done. We have been unable to even SCHEDULE in the genetic clinic here in Wichita (do not get me started on that place, SMH) and Dr Kerschen gave my husband the impression she would at least start the genetic testing herself. She also suggested an audiologist test our child. The clinic did not schedule us back, just told my S.O. they would call to schedule back and for all the follow-up above. Well it has been THREE months since that appt and we have't heard anything. We called about 1 month after the appt and had to LVM, nobody called us back. Since that appt, we called and have ALREADY BEEN SEEN and tested at a genetic clinic in another state. So at least we were able to start the process, thanks to one of my family members suggesting we call around to larger cities and see if they can schedule us in. If you are reading this and waiting to be scheduled in the genetics clinic in Wichita, I would suggest traveling to another clinic in a larger city, if you have the means to do so. Regarding scheduling, this clinic does not let you pick out a date/time and does not schedule you back after your appt (not quite sure why, my S.O. did not ask). This prevents me from going to appts, due to my work requirements. I am unclear why they cannot schedule like a normal clinic, so I can ask off work and attend these appts. I work in healthcare and would like to be there, but I guess that is not an option. The lack of call back/follow-up is probably the most frustrating thing about this. When you have a child who is not reaching milestones and is developmentally delayed, the last thing you want to worry about is his/her healthcare team not fulfilling their responsibilities of clinical follow-up. Our child has multiple specialists/PT/Speech appts, we do not have time to remind our doctors of things that they said they were going to do. It just isn't feasible. So my biggest complaints regarding this practice is the lack of follow-up or follow-through and scheduling. The thing about specialists in a smaller city like Wichita, they are typically the only ones in their field and thus, with a lack in competition, the care for the patient unfortunately decreases. They do not have to work hard to attract clients since they are the only option. It is a sad but true statement and has been evident with our care thus far, not only at this practice, but other specialties in Wichita. We have decided to try out Children's Mercy in KC for Neuro and Ophthalmology, depending on how those visits go, we may be commuting more to KC for specialist appts."

"Dr. Kerschen is amazing! My son has been seeing her for several years now and she is always professional, knowledgable, and kind. It's actually funny because after my sons first visit she asked me to see if I could get paper work for my own diagnosis to help with my sons (we are both Autistic). My mom had long lost my paperwork, but I did find a single paper that said I had been diagnosed by.... DR.KERSCHEN! Yup. I'm almost 32 and this woman diagnosed me when I was 9!!! She's been at this a while! My son got his diagnosis and we have continued to see her yearly and recently we also got him diagnosed with ADHD. I'll admit I was actually really scared about this visit. I ALSO have ADHD and as a child I had a lot of meds forced on me. It has made me very cautious about psych meds and I just didn't feel comfortable putting my son on meds for his ADHD. I also have a history of bad side effects with some meds and my son has problems communicating so I was worried about if he experienced side effects... he wouldn't be able to tell me so and could deal with various side effects and me not know he was. I told Dr. Kerschen this and she was completely understanding. After talking about all the things his teachers do for him and the care he gets at school she said that at this time she thinks he is getting the help he needs and she didn't see a reason he would need to be on meds (at this time). I was so happy after that visit. It was so nice to have a doctor that didn't think my son HAD to be on meds after so much of my life having meds pushed on me CONSTANTLY."

She takes her time and explains EVERYTHING, she does EVERYTHING possible to out her way to help you if has to do with testing or paper work or anything she will guide you what you need to do or do it for you! She is amazing and spends so much time with you and child and concerns you might have."
