"I was hesitant at first to do business with Merrick after looking at the reviews, but I've already had to call Customer Service once to get my card re-issued since someone stole my mail. I called in the middle of the day and was immediately greeted by a real person, and he was super pleasant and helped me to resolve my issue immediately. I think the whole phone call took less than five minutes. So far, I'm impressed."
"Was on hold for three hours, hung up on twice, transferred to non supervisors after I explicitly asked for a supervisor, recited the same/wrong information back to me redundantly in order to avoid answering my questions or admitting fault, gave conflicting information with each question and blatantly lied at one point. Finally got a supervisor who after seeing it was a an error on their end disconnected the call. All of this was me simply asking for them to release the funds from a payment I made with my debit card. The funds had already been on hold for three days. It was a debit card payment made through their third party processor. Never had my issue resolved and they don’t care. Another company who does not care at all about its customers. Horrible customer service!"
"Maintained a credit card in good standing with this company for years. Got a card with significantly better benefits so I stopped using this as a primary. Harassed to continue using the card or they would close my account. Intended to keep it for emergencies but now I will never do business with Merrick again."
"Would of been great if I had known that just by accepting the credit card offer that I would be charged with 125 dollars in fees before the card even arrived. The day the card arrived in the mail I already owed 125 dollars. If you need a credit card get one through your bank or capital one. These guys are scammy."
"I give them 2 stars because their website is pleasant to look at and they feel less rickety than other poor credit cc's. I've had some shady dealings with them lately though. First the credit line was supposed to automatically double after 6 months of paying on time, it did not. I called the customer support about the expedited payment and was assured twice that the payment would go through instantly, it did not. I asked the customer service rep about the month late credit line increase and was assured it would go through in a few days on a specific date, but was encouraged to make a payment to make sure the credit line increase "goes through" -William"
