"Interesting historical site with very well done and respectful interpretive displays. Easy trails to climb into the cave and canyon and explore and imagine the battle raging."
"You couldn't help but feel the history and feel like you could visualize the story depicted at the site Monument. I wished the path to the cave was safer. I wanted to get closer, but I did not want to risk a fall. I would fear that not civilizing the site more, is an effort to preserve it. I understand that. The easier the access, the more invitations for vandals. You just need to take time to read the information... having the cows on the hill led to imagining more about the times."
"Easy to find and relatively well interpreted, this canyon likely hasn't changed much since the battle. Ir is easy to picture how the events of 1878 unfolded here. The only improvement needed is an illustrated map to make it easier to spot some of the elements (like hand-dug rifle pits)."
"Totally worth the short drive up from the lake to see this beautiful spot; a peaceful place for contemplating the trials of the people who came before us and the battles fought by indigenous peoples to preserve their way of life and culture. There's little trails you can head down further into the canyon to get a better look at everything, and don't forget to sign the book on the way out!"
"This place is amazing. Definitely stop at the kiosk to sign in and grab a detailed copy of the history of the battle. I read it aloud to my boyfriend on the road up to the site. It gave me physical goose bumps. Beautiful area with really easy trails. Definitely worth the stop! Thank you to all the people that take care of this place also. Really impressed with everywhere we stopped in that area. Zero litter!"
