"The location is great because of the green belt, but natural lighting is non-existent in the actual apartment. The oddly placed windows let almost no daylight in and makes it seem like you’re living in a hole. During the winter the rooms are all freezing because of the weak heater that is only in two spots. The AC is a myth and the windows only let so much are in. The carpets are stained, matted, and in some spots crunchy.....gross. Since our water heater was leaking for a few days the carpet got wet and the floorboards expanded making the small hallway an obstacle course to walk through. Workers came and replaced the water heater as well as “dried” the carpet. Since it was humid the carpet did not dry quickly and soon after started to smell terrible. We requested the put in a new carpet for the hallway since the stench was so disgusting but they just brushed it off and didn’t nothing. Athens only thing that i have nothing to complain about is the balcony. It’s roomy but with the right decorations it’s a nice place to hang out"
"Update: I have moved out of Homestead Apartments and the owners have not given me my deposit back nor have they given me a breakdown of what they spent my deposit on. I am just so grateful I don't live there anymore. I lived here for six years. The location is great...and that's about it. Problems are taken care of with a band aid by their "maintenance" person. The "air conditioning" is nothing more than an old window unit at the rear of the place. The rent will be raised every time a new lease is signed. Last year my rent was raised more than $100. It went from $635 to $750. Management states its, "market value" but they don't mention the appliances are all from the 70's and electricity can be outrageous. Never, ever again."
"slum management. Dirty section 8 city apartment but we pay good, $750. Unacceptable"
"This review is about the Homestead apartments as well as the awful management company that runs then. Here's a detailed list why I cannot recommend Homestead Apartments or Parklane Management company 1. I had to rent my apartment site unseen because I was moving across country. The ad I found lied about the air conditioning. The ad said the apartment had central air, but when I arrived there was an extremely old, extremely loud wall unit. I never would have rented the apartment if I had known. 2. There is obvious water damage (which means the strong possibility of mold) in several places in the ceiling of my apartment. There was also a leak in my kitchen that was never fixed despite contacting management/ maintenance several times. Each time I was told it's "fixed" but the leak continued. 3. They required the carpets and blinds to be "professionally" cleaned, but there were dirty drip marks on all the blinds and window sills when I moved in. I also cleaned the carpet about a week after moving in and the water was literally black when I was finished (so much for "professionally" cleaned). Basically they charge for normal wear and tear which is illegal in the state of Idaho. 4. When I was trying to move out, my new landlord called and left messages on two different numbers on several different occasions and no one ever called her back. This is no different if you have a problem. One morning I walked outside to find there was blood on the stairs, side the building, and the railing. I had to send 3 emails to management (they keep changing their structure to make it "easier" to get a problem resolved) to get to the right person. Then it was cleaned up after 2-3 days. Who want to rent from a management company that can't be bothered to take care of blood stains in a prompt manner. I've had some sketchy landlords in the past, but Parklane was one of the most unprofessional awful company I had to work with. I can't say don't rent from them, but I can say if you do, be ready to be disappointed and have your deposit taken illegally for wear and tear."
