Reviews of Eileen Dam
"Excellent swimming hole. There is parking just over the railroad tracks for cars and low clearance suvs. The road past the railroad tracks gets a little narrow with trees, rutted, and there's one decent rock section that would require a fair amount of clearance. My guess would be that a stock jeep or tacoma would make. I would recommend parking at the rail road tracks and walking the last half mile in and save the risk and scratches. The trail from the road gets very steep and loose, so take it slow."
"Very interesting history. It is steep and obviously a risky place if you go down to the generator house or below the dam. Use caution. The waterfall across from it is pretty even when the water is low."
"Extremely addictive piece of history! Well worth the drive and a must for 4X4 owners. Must have high clearance as was as mentioned 4X4 yo view this mega-structure."
"What a great experience to explore this historic site."
"The short 1/2 mile old road needs a vehicle with good ground clearance. You will need 4 wheel drive to get right to the start of the trail. There is brush on both side of the road in places that may scrape your vehicle. It can get a bit narrow in places but not to bad. It just slapped the mirrors a bit on my narrow Cherokee. A full size truck will hit a bit more. There is one section that is a bit steep and has big rocks that can be a challenge if you pic the wrong line but there is a turn around right above this spot in the road. Its only another 200' or some from that point to the trail. The trail is steep. And drops 150 or so feet down to a overlook between the dam and power house. Its much steeper down from there into the powerhouse. Best views of the falls and dam is from the overlook Not for small children. Could be a bit dangerous is wet due to the steepness. Well worth the climb down and back up if you like this sort of thing."
