Despite warm temperatures in Sandpoint and at the summit of Schweitzer, their dedicated guides worked their magic, leading us to untouched, pristine powder run after run. Their explanation of how they managed to find "cold smoke" on a bluebird day was a mix of science and expertise, but the result was undeniable—they knew exactly where to take us on their expansive 1000+ acres of terrain, leaving us in awe at every turn. It was a day filled with unforgettable moments, captured effortlessly in insta-worthy videos and shared with new friends and old ski buddies alike. However, amidst the celebration, there's a tinge of sadness. After 21 incredible years and countless satisfied clients, Selkirk Powder Company will cease operations on the backside of Schweitzer Mountain. As a business-minded individual, it's perplexing why Schweitzer (now Alterra) fails to recognize the immense value this small business brings to its guests. As a loyal patron of both Selkirk Powder and Schweitzer, it feels like losing a cherished friend. To think that Schweitzer and Alterra believe they can replicate the unique culture, expertise, and experience that Selkirk Powder has meticulously crafted over the years is nothing short of hubris. But amid the disappointment, there's hope. Selkirk Powder Company has plans for the future, promising access to thousands of acres of world-class terrain. They have my unwavering support, and I eagerly anticipate what's to come. In conclusion, Schweitzer's loss is Selkirk Powder's gain. Farewell to an icon, but also a warm welcome to new beginnings."

"Over Christmas we had the pleasure of going on the Selkirk Powders Sandpoint Ridge Runner snowmobiling tour, and it was an incredible experience. Our guide, Mike Asquith, was absolutely amazing. He was not only knowledgeable and experienced but also incredibly thoughtful and accommodating. One of our friends didn't have much experience with snowmobiling, and Mike went out of his way to ensure that she felt comfortable and included throughout the entire tour. He patiently explained the basics and provided helpful tips, making the experience enjoyable for everyone. He adapted the route and adjusted the itinerary to make the most of the conditions, ensuring we had a fantastic time.
