"We watched Handel's Messiah, performed by Aspen Choral Society. Beautiful theater. Friendly workers. Amazing performance."
"This has to be one of the coolest historic performing arts venues in the country. We saw Legend Has It here hosted by Teton Gravity Research, I also plan on coming back for Warren Miller Films and to see Dance Aspen perform. Their programming is awesome, and the building itself is beautifully restored and every single detail is so pristine. I look forward to attending more shows here in the future, its a really intimate venue. Pro tip: come early before the show if you want to hit the bar before your show, and also the balcony tends to fill up faster than the lower levels. Open seating, no assigned seats here."
"After having dinner at the Aspen Public House , which i think is affiliated with the Wheeler Opera House, I popped into the lobby to ask if i could have a quick look around. It was about 5:20. (A little over two hours before they were scheduled to show a movie) I was surprised when the man behind the counter said “no”. At first I thought he was joking. When he saw my confusion he said “ they are prepping a show”. I assured him I wouldn’t hurt anything , but that didn’t matter. In the name of public relations people should be allowed a look around to help them decide if they would like to attend a future event. For an establishment that survives on ticket sales and donations, one would think they would make people feel more welcome."
"Quite poor acoustics for opera, unfortunately. A very dead acoustic space with very little resonance for the unamplified human voice. Certainly, historical, but Aspen could do much better with its money for a better acoustical environment for the type of performance that this space is supposed to be ideal for."
"We saw the student opera performance, all of them were so talented. The opera house itself is very beautiful, definitely a super cool historic place. The seating is very close to the stage, it’s an intimate setting. We enjoyed the performance we saw immensely, would definitely recommend their next performance on August 10th!"
