"Highly unimpressed with the diagnostic process that I went through with Dr. Charles Rice and highly unimpressed with the results. Very unprofessional, grumpy old man that became aggressively rude when I explained that I just needed an updated diagnosis and would be getting counseling elsewhere so I could go through EMDR. This also showed in his extremely dark, insulting, biased, and highly incorrect diagnosis. How on earth he could come up with 7 pages worth of stuff to say that sounded nothing like me (confirmed by others including my best friend and husband who talk to me every day) is beyond my knowledge or understanding. It's a real bummer as my husband had an appointment scheduled to do the same thing with him later this week and now we have to find a new psychologist who will base their diagnosis on reality. It seems Dr. Rice thinks very highly of himself but he has nothing to show for it when it comes to actually helping people. You would think after 40 years he would know how to be respectful and do the proper diagnostic testing to achieve accurate results. This kind of human being is exactly what is wrong with the mental health community in this state. I have learned repeatedly that experience means nothing if you can't back it up. Maybe drop the ego, get up out of your recliner, learn and pay attention. If you want to get paid to write fiction books then just say it. No one is stopping you."
"Dr. Rice has been extremely helpful to me with the various issues I am dealing with. He has given me real, practical tools to combat the negative self talk that has plagued me my entire life. And his staff is very friendly and pleasant. I have no complaints."
"Unable to get his office to answer the phone or respond to messages for two months! My children were in urgent need of help, we were referred to his office from the hospital. I left full informative messages on the answering machine and with the answering service more than 20 times being told “I will het this to them right away" I even emailed him directly, he said he will have his secretary call me first thing in the morning...NEVER CALLED! I even left another message with the answering service and email to him, NO CALL EVER! They don’t want your money or mine, and worse, don’t care about the health of the patient! DO NOT WASTE YOUR HEALTH OR TIME WITH THEM/HIM!"
"Dr. Rice is kind and caring. He was a good listener as well as very supportive of me as an individual. He helped me tremendously over the years and I was able to have a productive life in large part to his loving and encouraging attitude."
"CHRISTIANS AND EVERYONE ELSE BEWARE!!! I went to my very first ever appointment with a psychologist, as I was experiencing depression because of the pain from severe degenerative arthritis, recent surgeries, slow healing from surgeries and severe neuropathy. My appointment was at 3 PM. I arrived early, like they asked. The receptionist was very sweet. I was in the waiting room next to Dr. Rice's office. I could hear him typing away on his computer. He was alone. At about 3:12, I was considering saying something to him. He finally came out and invited me in. He looks at my Beatles hoodie and says, "Beatles huh?" He was obviously not a fan. He led me to a chair and proceeded to sit down in his big, comfy recliner. He puts on a neck pillow, like you see passengers use on airplanes--puts a pillow on his lap, then puts his laptop on the pillow and fully reclines. I was going to ask if there'd be popcorn, but thought perhaps this was part of the therapy. How was I to know? He started asking me a bunch of questions. I said, "I already answered these questions on the online application that I did." They told me that they needed it ahead of my visit so Dr. Rice could read it. He said, "I'll read it later." Then he asked, "Do you and your wife sleep in the same bed?" I replied, "Yes." He said, "Oh. I didn't think that because of your size you and another person could fit in the same bed." WHAT???!! What kind of psychologist would talk to a client like that? Needless to say, I didn't schedule a second visit. I called my insurance company and told them what happened. The gal couldn't believe what I went through. She kept apologizing. She said she was filing a grievance against him. I hope he is taken off their network. What a hack!"
