"I had a fairly long appointment which I appreciate and all the nurses and supporting staff were very nice. The doctor however hardly let me get a word in and I felt he minimized certain issues and didn’t even address others. As a younger women getting someone to take issues seriously is important to me and I didn’t feel that sense of concern at all was just told to go see a general physician as if I haven’t done that for years without success. I felt belittled by the end of the appointment and don’t plan on coming back."
"This was THE BEST thing I EVER did!!! I suffered from migraines for 30 years!! In the last few years I developed facial droop on the right side of my face that was ONLY present when I had a headache or migraine. I had the 2 “trial” treatments my insurance required and the both worked so the next step was a RFA (Radio Frequency Ablation). BEST THING EVER!!! I was told that the first RFA usually last 9-10 months….My first one lasted 16 months!!! To suffer with migraines (4-6 a week) with the longest one not last hours but 9 days straight, I was willing to give the treatment a try and I am SO GLAD I DID!!! Grateful for ALL THE OFFICE STAFF and PHYSICIANS (anesthesiologists)!!! Y’ALL ARE AMAZING!!!"
"I have been dealing with severe back pain from an injury, this group of people are so amazing not only did they explain everything to me so I could understand it and not ( talk in doctor) they were extremely patient and understand. Careful and gentle when it came to the injections, they explained every step, so I knew what they were doing as they were doing it. The room was full of 5-6 doctors and nurses all there to help and make the process as easy and as comfortable as possible. I was feeling extremely un easy (due to back pain). The nurses gave me ice chips, a cool rag on my neck, and blew oxygen in my face to help calm me. They were 1000% on top of it. From beginning to end. I was not a number to them I was.... like family, they treated me with the utmost respect and took their time and didn't make me feel like I was a burden or taking up their time. I was constantly told to take my time that there was no rush when it was time to leave. I had a nurse at my side 98% of the time to see how I was doing, seeing if I needed anything and to take care of me. For an outpatient process, I have never felt so calm and respected and treated with such respect. I will definitely return for any and all other pain management concerns. Definitely worth the travel to see them"
"I went to the pain clinic at Gritman and was seen by James ???. I did not take my pain meds (Vicodin) before going so that I could be Very clear about the pain from the accident back in November that has severely affected my life. Slamming on my brake my car hit his car (he turned in front of me) and my car was totaled. His fault. My inferior rami was fractured. The pain in my knee, thigh, hip and neck from whip lash evolved to be very bad. He talked about a nerve ablation in my knee but had this to say: I have bone cancer (yes, but nowhere near where the pain is), I have arthritis (no kidding – two new knees), and I’m 82 (???). He said because of the new knee giving me an ablation in my knee was difficult and problematic. I said I understood that that a test block might be called for. He also mentioned a possible MRI of my spin to see if that would reveal what could be done about the pain in my hip and thigh. Before this appointment I had every known scan (including an MRI on my knee in Spokane) and X-ray trying to find the source of the problem/pain. Nothing was evident except the fracture. So … nerve pain. Two weeks later – after calls back and forth he reached me and said he could do Nothing for me. ☹ I asked for a detailed explanation of why and again he mentioned all of the things mentioned above. I asked if my oncologist, Dr. Rai – who gave me the referral – said that cancer was not a contraindication would that make a difference. He said No – she’s not an anesthesiologist. I got another referral to PRH’s pain clinic (where I’ve had ablations before on my lower spine that were Very successful). Soon after they performed a nerve block with steroids at L4. It has been Very successful and most of the time I am only in discomfort rather than pain. It is important to me that I know I can go back for another treatment when/should the need arise. It was also explained that an ablation might result in my losing leg function. No mention was made of this at Gritman. The I reported my experience at Gritman I was told that maybe they were concerned about “risk.” No mention was made of this while at Gritman’s pain clinic. Be your best advocate."
"I just have to say how amazing the staff are at the clinic. You have heard the phrase "One size fits all", which is the opposite of how they operate. They took my complaint along with my time constraints and bent over backwards to solve the problem of my pain (I didn't have a lot of hope), for pain can be elusive and hard to find the souce. I was always met with a sincerity to help, and this was the biggest thing that impressed me, and so rare in the health care system today. They are truly wonderful! Susan Segota"
