High Plains Camping

"We truly believe High Plains Camping is your best option in Oakley. We also find this campground is better than average of the many campgrounds we have reviewed. Our good rating comes with some caveats especially for car camping/tenting. We found the tenting areas somewhat spartan lacking often picnic tables, fire rings and electric which are available for the RVer's. Also some of the features seen in the photos are not available off-season or limited hours of operation. We feel we were also influenced by arriving late evening in the off-season during stormy weather but our review stands. The wind breaks of conifers is of a huge benefit to the usability of this campground but not enough to offset everything else. Maybe during better weather we will stay here again. We visited May 2023."

"I had a great time staying at High Plains Camping in September 2023 while driving from California to Pennsylvania. I camped in a tent for one night. The staff were very friendly, and kindly assisted me over the phone since I arrived after hours. The shower facilities were spacious and clean. I recommend High Plains camping to those seeking a well-maintained and convenient stop-over."

"Conveniently Located right off I70. Well maintained and nice grounds. Just overnight stay for us, but full hookup was great. Did not explore much or use the pool. Communication with host was good! Would recommend."

"For a full hook up site you cannot beat the price. 50amp power was clean and water pressure was great. Easy flat pull through for the largest rig. Pool looked inviting, grounds we’re interesting to explore. Great overnight spot. 43’ fifth wheel."

"Right off the bat the people were very nice. The price is right and they offer the usual discounts. Since we showed up just before closing we didn't get to experience much else from the facilities but the bathroom which needed attention. They do have a selection of DVDs available to borrow, just drop it off when you leave. Didn't use the showers but they were clean and seemed to have adequate space for changing. I like that the shower floor is lower than the changing room floor to reduce shower spray into that space. Many things just seemed to need attention (ie.slow bathroom sink drains). Didn't get to check out the pool either though I was warned it was very cold right now. With some good maintenance this place could be really nice. The new owners have a lot of work to do and I wish them well. For now, they hold up to a solid 3.5 stars. If I found clean toilets I'd give them 4 stars."
