"Although I’d never met him, Bob had been my parent's agent for many years, so it seemed like an easy decision when I needed workers comp insurance for my business. I had gotten myself in a position where I needed a policy and Bob was able to do that. Right away I received my policy info and premium auto withdrawal schedule($163/month). A few weeks later I received a letter from State Farm for a different class code policy that was($504/month). I immediately called Bob. He said not to worry it was their mistake and $163 is all they would take. Bob went to Hawaii on vacation the next week and $504 was taken from my bank account, plus $50 in overdraft fees. When he got back I emailed him and politely asked him to look into it, he also said something would be done for the bank fees. Days later I emailed again, he said he was not able to do anything and offered to cancel my policy if I wanted him to. Baffled by everything, I asked if that would be a problem? He said no, and cancelled my policy after 2.5 months. I was charged a 'short rate cancellation penalty' of $386 soon after, apparently that’s standard procedure. There was also never been anything else said regarding of the overdraft fees I paid as a result of only having enough to cover what he assured me would be taken from my account. Feeling extremely discouraged by then, I asked Bob when my audit was so I could attempt to recoup some of the fees I was charged as a result of him not being able to get me the correct class code. He said there would be no audit because my policy was so short. Wrong info yet again, lucky for me they audit every policy. A month later my audit results showed I was classified and charged correctly. By now it was late October and construction was slowing down. I had no employees, because I couldn't afford work comp, and the Industrial Commission was hounding me even though I'm not required to carry it for myself. I finished the small job I was doing, and decided to call the year a loss, and figure out how to get my business going again for 2019. I still needed to resolve my work comp issue, so I was directed to a State Farm Sr underwriter in Texas. After numerous phone calls and emails showing proof of everything that happened with my policy, I was able to get my case reopened, and do what long time local agent Bob Bailey was not able to after numerous attempts. My class code is now listed correctly from the time my policy began, and the significant difference in the two premiums was refunded to me by State Farm in mid December. Finally time to move on. I know Bob is aware of everything that's happened since the last time we spoke when he cancelled my policy and he gave me incorrect information for the last time. I have no hard feelings, just truly surprised someone doing it for that long would know so little about how it works. I am thankful State Farm stepped up and made it right."
