Holiday Inn Express Boise-University Area, an IHG Hotel

"You can tell from the bathtubs in the bathrooms and the door locks that this is an older building, but that's about it, as it's clearly been remodeled. Everything else from beds, toilets, sinks, shower fixtures, furniture, look, smell, etc. feels much newer. The entertainment options haven't been upgraded and you still have the old school tv option with a slow, line-by-line channel guide and no streaming, but that's really nit-picking. The staff (front desk, food service and maid service -- I had good experiences with all of them) is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is the best "chain hotel" breakfast I've had. The place is clean and obviously well run/managed. Not sure you can beat this value in the Boise area for the price. Oh, side note - the pool is a little underwhelming. It's small and outdoors, although heated. No hot tub. So, if that's a must have for your visit, you might consider checking it out more closely before committing. It didn't matter to me and my family this visit. UPDATE - It appears there is an indoor hot tub. That wasn't explained when I checked in, but it's still a 5-star review from me and was still an excellent check in experience. Only makes it more likely I'll stay there again next time I'm passing through Boise."

"Huge shout out to Randy!! Thank you for doing your most to find out what, if any, gluten-free options were available to me for the continental breakfast. I deeply appreciate your and your team's acknowledgment and efforts to ensure I was able to partake equitably in the breakfast provided. Check in and out was smooth, hospitable and there was enough spaces to find parking with ease. The room was comfortable and clean. I didn't get to experience the spa or fitness center due to my short stay, but I would definitely stay here again should I find myself staying overnight in the Boise area. Thank you!"

"Great value for money as there's a wide variety of delectable breakfast staples and some welcome surprises (like whole wheat English muffins to toast and some basic Mexican items). We were sorry we didn't bring swimwear, as we could have used the 95 ° outdoor pool, which would have been fun in February amidst the falling wintry mix. (And it's open til 11pm, so perfect for a night swim). We loved the location as it was close to the greenbelt and we were able to get to plenty of locations on foot. The only downside was that the room smelled like cigarettes and there was no vent in the bathroom. Would be great if one could open the windows. Other than that, pretty neat place. Judging by the cars parked outside, they had a full house - and with good reason."

"Best breakfast ever! We have stayed at many Hiltons, Hamptons, and Marriots around the country. This hotel made a great impression. They thought of everything to make a nice complete breakfast. Huge seating area with lots of booths.Compared to other hotel, that have pancakes, they would usually only have butter and syrup, this one had cream and fresh strawberries to top. Lots of cereal options too. Lots of toppings to make wholesome burritos. There was pineapple ham, sausage pattie, real sausage links (in casings) scrambled eggs, omelets on top of fresh warm Cinnamon rolls that was cross between a cronut. The rooms were clean, and hallways smelled fresh and cozy. Actual Dove products that smelled great and perfect hot showers with pressure control. All the staff were very professional and breakfast attendants all have friendly, helpful attitudes."

"I'm a frequent IHG guest. I'm a diamond elite status member. Definitely not bragging, but I believe it's important to know. This location doesn't look into what your room preferences are. I specifically state, no handicap room away from the elevator and a higher floor. So this Hotel decided to put me in the only 1st floor room and it's a handicap room. Why do I have preferences on the app if they don't get looked at by hotel staff when they are assigning me a room?"
