Reviews of Scott Freeman DMD
"My childhood experience below. Dr Freeman is a terrible dentist. These bad reviews are about more than just a bad receptionist. Gaslighting. Excessive tooth extractions. Ignoring patients. Mistreatment. Please don’t send your kids here. I drove by the other day and was shocked to see he was still in business, and it prompted me to leave a review as a warning to others. He was my dentist from early childhood through high school (I’m in my mid 30s now). I’ll highlight a few poor experiences below: When I had a tooth extracted I told him that it was hurting. Not a lot, but enough to bother me because I wasn’t fully numb. I was gripping the arms of the chair and kicking around. I told him it hurt and was crying. When my mom came back to get me I told her that it hurt. He said to her/me “We had a few tears, but really just anxiety about the whole thing nothing more. Nothing to worry about”. I vividly remember this because 1) I was in 6th grade. The condescending “we” made me feel sick. 2) I was telling adults I was in pain and being ignored and not listened to. 3) I should note that I had a total of 11 teeth pulled by Dr. Freeman. This was not my first or last. I was fine with the other teeth, so looking back I cannot believe he didn’t listen to me and attributed it to “anxiety” instead. He also doesn’t use the clove numbing sticks that I’ve learned are common practice with most dentists. He just goes straight in for the numbing shots with no pain relief. He also gas lit me about my braces. He glued the brackets on my front teeth and I told him that I couldn’t close my mouth fully because they were bumping my top teeth. He told me they weren’t bumping. I ended up with a permanent wear spot/chip in my front incisor where they were bumping, which my dental hygienists today ask about frequently. He once lectured my brothers and I about teeth brushing (even though we’d never had cavities, no tartar buildup. This was just a general lecture he apparently gave everyone). He asked us how often we brushed our teeth and we said 2x a day. He insisted we should pack toothbrushes with us to school and brush our teeth after all our snack times and lunches. My mom told him that wasn’t realistic. He was extremely condescending to her and continued to basically lecture her and us that we should do this. I told him that I didn’t have time to do that and wouldn’t (I was in Jr. High at the time). He then said something to the effect of “well now, I’m sure your mommy could come to school and brush them for you if you won’t do it”…as some kind of weird threat? Even after my mom indicated she thought it was excessive. It was just super odd. He is not an orthodontist (Idaho doesn’t require people to be orthodontists to do braces). Any dentist I’ve gone to since has commented on my teeth, especially mentioning the fact that Dr. Freeman permanently removed a full set of my adult teeth (bicuspids) rather than using current palate expanding methods or other techniques. It lead to angled molars and odd wear patterns where my top and bottom teeth clash. Not to mention “eleven teeth pulled by the time I was eleven” was something I bragged about but honestly had a bit of trauma from. He doesn’t allow parents back with their kids. I had laughing gas a number of times for tooth extractions. I don’t remember exactly what happened but one time I definitely was overdosed. I remember a hygienist jostling me awake. Looking back now as a parent myself this absolutely freaks me out. I could write more but I’ll leave it at this. Please do not send your kids here."
"We love Dr and Jan. My son has been going since he was 3 yrs old (now nearly 14). Zack has never been scared to go and he has had all kinds of dental work done."
"Would give zero stars if i could, receptionist called on a Sunday and canceled an appointment for my special needs brother on Tuesday and said the the doctor would not see us anymore cause we missed an appointment in 2020 when it is 2023 the receptionist should be fired for being very rude, abrasive, and heartless. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS especially for special needs kids"
"Honestly would give them a negative rating if I could. Front desk receptionist is so rude, I would never take my business here. Never been treated so horrible from a receptionist. She needs to be fired because clearly she hates her job and life from the way she treats people with simple completely normal questions. Do better Dr. Freeman."
"I called their office today to try and reschedule due to personal reasons. My appointments were later in the same day as I was trying to cancel. The woman who answered was so incredibly rude about the entire thing. When I tried asking her if I was able to get my kids in at another time, she very condescendingly said “we do not reschedule same day cancellations.” To which I said “So you won’t take my kids at all for me needing to reschedule?” And she said “ No. We will not take you if you cancel the day of. When you aren’t considerate of our time, then other patients don’t get to be seen by the Doctor and the Doctor just sits there and has nothing to do in that time slot…. Do you understand now?” She spoke to me as if I was a small child, and maybe not even that. She then had the audacity to say “Well what is so urgent that you need to cancel today ??” That is absolutely none of her business and the way she went about the whole thing left me speechless. My daughter alone has many different Doctors for health reason and I have never been spoken to like that in my life. It was so unprofessional and flat out disrespectful. I now see why they have such poor reviews. If I could give them a “zero” I would. It is unacceptable to talk to anyone like that despite the reason for calling. Get that woman out of there."
