Reviews of Taste of Nigeria African Cuisine
"This was my first time coming to this location and very first time trying fufu . I had a great experience. The lady thst was there was very nice and kind. She had a smile and when she gave me my food(nice and hot) she explained to me how to eat egusi and fufu :-) My food was delicious and and I will be going there again. Thank you!"
"This is a very nice place to eat if you wanna connect with Africa. The food is so delicious and yummy. I love it and I will come back again and again."
"I transport RVs across the country, so while coming through Boise with one I looked up Nigerian food near me and her food truck came up. I'm glad I did because the Egusi w/fufu was delicious! The flavor was everything! Her portions aren't overwhelming and priced perfectly for someone on the go and looking for a home cooked meal. She has out door seating which was perfect for me. Also plenty of parking. If I'm every coming through Boise again I will most definitely make this one of my stops along the way! Thank you!"
"I ended up getting the fufu and egusi and for starters the egusi was such a small portion for $10. The egusi didn't have much flavor and was mostly palm oil. Overall wasn't worth the price or getting food poisoning from it and throwing up the rest of the day. Don't recommend."
"Oh boy. Really, really disappointed in this place. Me and a friend went here for lunch. Got Jollof Rice & Chicken, Pounded Yam with Egusi Soup, and Fried Plantains. Jollof is simply not worth the $10. It's a small container filled with rice, and a drumstick on top. Flavor was somewhere between Spanish rice and Tikka Masala, but not nearly as good as either. Chicken was cold, but cooked through, so it's definitely not fresh. The skin was gummy. Severely lacked in salt or any consistency other than soft. Pounded Yam was okay, don't expect much if you've never had it. Egusi soup was also just okay, under seasoned to hell, and half the portion of meat was literally just a big fat cap. Portion of pounded yam was twice as big as the soup. Fried plantains were the star. Super greasy, needed to sit on a wire rack for a bit. Seasoning was okay, slightly sweet and salty. No bite in the fried outer layer. Overall, it tasted good, and makes a tasty snack. The lady working the truck was not very friendly as other reviews have said. No real attempts to leave a positive customer service experience. She said the wait would be 10-15 minutes. We waited half an hour - a lady who ordered before us, with more food than us was served before us, you could tell she was a regular. Then she calls us up to the window and we have to give her our order again as she starts to bag it up. She thought we got the meat pies when we did not. Below average customer experience. All in all, unless you're from Nigeria and are just craving food from home, I would not recommend this place, and I will not be returning to try again. Leaving 2 stars as it was palatable, but far below average across the board."
