Reviews of Pentagon Bistro & Martini Bar
"Caution: If you have food or nut allergies , beware. The first time coming here was for a date night and the ambiance was great as well as the service. I ordered the angels pasta which was more like hell for me because after I ate half of it, my throat started to swell. It has walnuts. We immediately paid and left. I was sick all night and the next day. We contacted the manager and owner to let them know about the incident mostly to help make sure it wouldn’t happen to someone else as it was a new dish without the ingredients listed. We never received anything back at all from the owner or management . None of the menu has nut allergy information. Then or now. We gave it three months before returning and made very sure to warn the server/bartender about my allergy and even asked about the two entrees to make sure they didn’t have walnuts. We were brought an appetizer that DID have walnuts. I felt ridiculous asking for the 4th time but am glad I did before eating it. Overall when asking, I wasn’t taken seriously about having a severe allergy. Great ambiance and pita bread. If I decide to leave this world I’ll make it my last meal."
"We’ve visited here twice so far, and bought a $100 gift card to send my brother there with his wife, because it is just that good. It’s totally worth the 35 minute drive. The menu has a nice amount of offerings, giving you not too many things to think about but enough to make you want to try a few. Everything we’ve tried was absolutely delicious and tasted fresh, not from a can or freezer. The 2 servers we’ve experienced were friendly and attentive in a comfortable way. We were impressed with the quality of service for sure. We will be back! Pro tip: try the lemon cheesecake, you won’t be disappointed. And the lamb chops were so tender they practically melted in my mouth."
"Last night my friend and I had the opportunity to try the Pentagon Bistro & Martini in Liberty Lake. I would definitely recommend calling ahead and making a reservation. The place was very busy for a Wednesday evening at 6 PM. The wait wasn’t too bad though. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a table. We both ordered appetizers. Their Brussel Sprouts and their Button Mushrooms. The Brussel Sprouts were roasted and then coated in a sticky-sweet teriyaki-like sauce. The menu described the sauce as “spicy yet savory.” The sauce was definitely more sweet than spicy or savory. The mushrooms were okay. You definitely get a lot of them. They are all small mushrooms, which is nice. Between the appetizers and the entrees, we were bought out a very underwhelming presentation of bread. The bread was in a basket, set atop a single packet of butter. Yes, a packet of butter! Our entrees each included a Caesar salad. I liked it, the dressing wasn’t a creamy dressing , more oil based. It was also covered in a lot of shaved Parmesan. I liked that aspect but my friend isn’t a huge fan of Parmesan, so it wasn’t her favorite. For entrees, my friend went with her favorite, Chilean Sea Bass. It was served with thin asparagus spears (which she and I both prefer) and potato croquettes, which tasted a lot like a loaded baked potato in small pancake shapes. As for the Sea Bass, she said she liked the way it was grilled and the seasoning on the outside was good. The actual fish was a little mushy. This is her go-to at a lot of places, so I trust her opinion on the fish. As for me, I tried something I have never had anywhere so have nothing for comparison. I ordered the Cioppino. I have to say that it was outstanding! The broth had a delicious and robust tomato and basil flavor. It was loaded with lots of fish and served with a couple pieces of bread. I don’t eat a lot of bread, but if I did, I think they could really improve on that aspect. Their martinis are reasonably priced ($11 or $9 during happy hour), with several options. I had their Dirty Monica, which was a dirty vodka martini. If we go back, it’ll be for happy hour to try more of their shareable items or one of their salads."
"Went in for lunch on a weekend. We weren't aware of the theming before we came in. Wherever you fall on the political spectrum, political memes on a menu cheapens the feel of the place. The so-called satire seemed to go mostly one way and not the other. Food was pretty good, but with such a divisive schtick, no desire to come back to this or any of the owner's other restaurants in the area. Disappointing because it felt like it could be a classy place otherwise."
"Wonderful local bistro with creative offerings. Food and cocktails are generally consistent, service can be hit or miss. Satirically themed cocktail list adds a lighthearted point of community. Happy hour is worth the stop, on the patio makes it even better. Try the sweet potato fries, Will Barron steak, and baked Brie. Recommended stop."
