"Let me start by saying, in my opinion, it's kinda tough to find good Jamaican food in Saint Louis MO. With that being said, when I get fresh Jamaican with good flavors, I'm excited here in STL. I ate at De Palm Tree years ago when they had a restaurant in U.City. It was kinda cool coming to the new location (with what I call the food lockers). The food was hot, fresh, and pretty tasty. I had to ring the bell at the front, because the restaurant didn't have a food locker inside (you'll know what I'm talking about when you get to the building). I enjoyed the spicy flavors. And hooray! The rice and peas & the cabbage had good flavor. Check them out, it's worth it!"
"I ordered the oxtail stew and it came with rice and peas and cabbage. The cabbage I didn't much care for. The oxtails themselves where 3 very small pieces which is crazy cause the plate cost $26 before taxes. I use to frequent then when they were on Olive in U City. But although they were small is did taste the same. I should have order a side a gravy for my rice. They aren't spicy which is good because I didn't like spicy oxtails."
"This is the worst jerk food I’ve ever had. The red beans and rice is dry, unseasoned, and the rice is not cooked well. The cabbage is extremely sweet and unseasoned. The chicken wings are pretty good just a little bit too sweet. I do like that wings aren’t super big. The jerk sauce is okay ."
"IM SO GLAD DE PALM TREE IS BACK. I first came here many years ago to try the jerk chicken and it was love at first bite. The jerk chicken is so lovingly imbibed with those iconic Caribbean spices. Accompanied by the smokiness from the grill it’s truly hard to beat. The honeyed wings are sweet and a little spicy. The perfect combination. Both of these are SO INSANELY PHENOMENAL. Nowhere else in STL even comes close to touching the perfectly cooked jerk chicken here. 9.35/10 clucks. Don’t forget to order a Ting. Nothing pairs better. My girlfriends favorite dish is the oxtail. She craves it. She says it’s rich and tender. One of her favorite dishes at any restaurant. I really miss the ambiance of the old location. The staff was always so friendly and it smelled heavenly. Beggars can’t be choosers, though. I was heartbroken when they closed so the fact that they’re back, even if it’s to-go only, is a blessing. Maybe one day we will all have the pleasure of eating at their own location again. If you’re looking for some authentic Jamaican cuisine - this is the place. Don’t go anywhere else if De Palm Tree is open. I’ve tried almost every other place in the city during their hiatus and only one or two were even on the same playing field. VERY STRONGLY RECOMMEND"
"Ordered their jerk chicken entree. It wasn't as good as when they were on Olive in their own building but it was OK. The portions were fine, the flavor just wasn't all there. De palm tree is located in a food-like building (The Hill Food Co). Once you enter the building you enter the order code shown on your receipt if you ordered online. If the food is ready, the locker it is in will open and you can grab it. There is no where to sit and seat, only pick up food."
