The park was made possible through donations by the descendants of W.A. (Al) and Nellie Apple, who operated the waterworks for the citizens of Duenweg until 1956. In addition to Apple Park, Bartley Park is another lovely location in Duenweg with a historical significance. The park is located where the Bartley family homestead once stood, behind the parking lot at 8084 E 7th Street. The Bartley family played a key role in the development of Duenweg, establishing mines and a blacksmith shop that helped the town grow into what it is today. Bartley Park is a peaceful spot where visitors can relax and reflect on the history of the area. "Apple park is well kept, the town is very proud of it. I am very proud to be a part of it's history. The rock water tower stands in memoriam of the original Apple family water tower, that served the town until 1956. Large boulders adorn the park that were pulled right from the dirt near where the park sits. If you dig down deep enough, you'll find my name carved into the cement securing the swings to the ground."
