"This location of Press Waffle Co. is inside the City Foundry, right in the center of the Food Hall. The cashier up front was very sweet, and everyone behind the counter looked engaged and focused. I got a Southern Belle waffle, which has lemon curd, blueberries, and whipped cream. They don’t skimp on any of the toppings! Plenty of curd, both on the waffle and in the whipped cream, and a blueberry in every square! The waffle was nice and firm to hold all of these, but not burnt and crunchy. You can also build-your-own waffle. Delicious!"
"Best chicken & Waffles ever! We absolutely love the STL Hot chicken & Waffles as well as the Cristo. Everything on the menu is great. You really can't pick a bad item from them because there is no bad items. 100/100%"
"Stopped in originally for another restaurant, but they were closed. We stumbled upon this place and the waffles were terrific. Be patient as they need a few minutes to get your order ready, but it is well worth the wait."
"This place is fantastic. Every waffle I have tried has been perfect. Cinnamon Roll Waffle- Nice twist on the classic cinnamon roll. 4/5 The American- waffle topped with cheese, bacon, and a fried egg. Everything in one breakfast waffle. If they found a way to work some potato in there it would be every one of the best breakfast foods in one. 4/5 The Cristo- a great play on the monte Cristo sandwich using waffles instead of the traditional French toast. A fantastic savory treat. 5/5 The Elvis- peanut butter, banana topped with bacon. Great savory and sweet waffle. Excellent choice. 5/5 The House- A great dessert waffle. The Nutella would almost be overwhelming but the strawberries and whip cream balance it perfectly. 5/5 The Southern Belle- Lemon, blueberry, and whipped cream. A little more summery and light than the other waffles. The lemon flavor is strong so if you don’t like things too tangy then this is not for you. 4/5"
"Press Waffle Co was an interesting experience. I’m a big fan of waffles, but liege waffles, the type Press makes, are not at the top of my list. They tend to be a lot denser and are more yeasty than your typical Belgian waffle. This adds to the heaviness of the dishes. That being said, I tried the Chicken & Waffles, the STL Hot Chicken & Waffle and The Southern Belle. The standard Chicken & Waffles had a ton of syrup on them and the dusting of powdered sugar made it hard to enjoy the savory aspect of the dish. To be fair, you’re expecting a level of sweet with chicken & waffles, so I can’t say it did anything wrong. The southern Belle was really tasty, and the blueberries were fresh and added a nice pop. The drizzled lemon curd causes the whipped cream to collapse pretty quickly. So you’re kind of in a race against time to finish it. All in all, it was a pretty balanced dessert. The STL Hot Chicken & Waffle… oh boy. This one is built different. I ordered it because it sounded like a good concept, but reality is often more complicated. The STL style hot sauce combined with the overpowered dusty heat of Riplets hits you pretty quick, but then your tastebuds take a left turn with the runny buttermilk ranch flavor. All of this combined with the slight sweet yeasty flavor of the waffle clash in a weird way that leaves you struggling to make sense of what you’re supposed to be tasting. The chicken is in there somewhere, but it’s just lost in the cacophony of flavors all competing for your attention. Oh and did I mention there’s also a pickle. Sometimes simplicity is the best road to success. It’s hard to try and capitalize on a dish that is highly trendy by changing it to the point where it no longer resembles what you’re trying to replicate. It’s hard to fault Press Waffle Co for a couple flavor choices, so I’ll chalk it up to my personally taste preferences. I like their business concept and I think it makes for a fun and exciting dish to try for breakfast or brunch."
