"I have trained with Sensei Mike Swederska for over ten years and can attest to his Aikido skill, passion for this Martial Art, and overall knowledge of Aikido including Japanese etiquette on the mat. But, it takes more than personal skill to be a good instructor. Sensei Swederska has the patience and teaching skills it takes for students to learn and progress in Aikido if you are willing to put forth the effort. He also has developed students that have a similar passion and ability for teaching Aikido. Shin-Gane has a mixture of male and female students from youth to Seniors. If you are looking for an functional Martial Art with the ability to control a situation with a measured and effective response Sensei Swederska's school is the place for you. Terry Hildebrandt"
"Very personable. Sensei Mike takes time to ensure students understand the why and how of techniques. You can tell he enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. Highly recommend this school if you are interested in Aikido and self-defense."
"After studying Aikido at it's birthplace, in Wakayama Japan, I came back to the USA hoping I could continue my studies. I found Shingane via the web and decided to try it out. Sensei Mike is very knowledgable and passionate about Aikido. Unfortunately that was the only thing I was pleased with about this school. Something that didn't sit right with me from the beginning was that this dojo teaches "tenshin" style Aikido. Tenshin was created by Steven Segal and basically is a (in their own words) more "practical" form of standard aikido. In Japan, the spiritual side was just as important as the martial side. Aikido is an extremely spiritual Art and taking that part away is a mistake in my opinion. One of the biggest reasons for my two star rating is the Dojo schedule. Wednesday nights from 7:30 to 9:30pm. That is not nearly enough! I had a tough time remembering what we did the pervious week. For a Martial Art to be effective it takes a lot of sweating in the Dojo. I was training 6 days a week in Japan. 1 day a week just doesn't cut it. On top of that the price is high for the amount of training per week."
"I have been at this school for a while. The sensei is very enthusiastic and the class goes by very fast because it is fun and exciting ,Every student is very helpful and accommodating to each others needs and ability ."
