"Paco from Kansas City Grill Cleaners came to our home a week ago and cleaned our grill, well supposedly. Our experience was nothing short of awful, to say the least, and now our very expensive grill is no longer usable. I gave him a week to respond to my requests, asking multiple times for info on products used hoping to be able to resolve this matter professionally with the business owner, and see how he was going to fix our issue. Once Paco left my home, my husband arrived home a few hours later. My husband, excited for his clean grill, realized while inspecting the grill, not only was our grill still dirty inside. The inside of our grill firebox had been SPRAY PAINTED, and he even spray painted over grease and bird poop he didn’t completely clean off from the nest a bird had built this Spring, hence the reason we wanted it “professionally” cleaned. I immediately sent Paco a text asking if he used paint, he replied and advised, yes. High heat paint, only on the back inside of the grill. And when asked what kind of high heat paint he used, he then told me two different kinds that he used, and then advised “It will not affect flavor”. I advised Paco, there is paint on the inside back as well as under the burners. Sent him pics showing him, as well as the bird poop he painted over. He then replied advising, he will come next week and remove the paint, as most people know spray paint is not removable. I asked Paco to send me a picture of the can of spray paint used, and to show me where it says it is safe for use on the inside of a grill. There is NO spray paint, even high heat spray paint, that is safe to be used inside of a grill, EVER. I am not a grill cleaner, and I know this, and the high heat spray paint indicates this as well. I advised Paco my concern has NOTHING to do with being concerned with flavor. At this point, I also asked for the name of chemicals used to soak my grill grates in for two hours, as well as the the other products used. At this point, I am now questioning all the products that were used. I never received this either or pictures of the spray paint he used. We aren’t suppose to breathe paint fumes, so no way is it safe to use spray paint inside a cooking surface. This is very concerning!! We did much research prior to choosing Kansas City Grill Cleaners LLC, as we wanted our grill cleaned professionally and for it to be cleaned properly and safely. We chose Kansas City Grill Cleaners as they indicated they use non toxic, biodegradable products, as well as provide a 20 point inspection once the grill is cleaned and back together, and this info is on their card as well. I was never advised when making the appt or while he was at my home that he would be spray painting the inside of my grill to make it look clean, as I would have said NO. There is no reason for spray paint to be used inside a grill. We now have a grill that is still dirty, that we can no longer use again due to this experience. It’s been a week and if you get within 5-6 feet or sit downwind from our grill, it still smells like spray paint. I advised Paco, if I didn’t get the requested info and pics, I would be taking matter further, and still nothing from Paco with the info that was requested. If you had your grill cleaned by this company, be sure to check for spray paint inside your grill. And, if you are looking for a grill cleaning company I recommend not choosing Kansas City Grill Cleaners."
