Reviews of POW Martial Arts
"Gracie Jiu Jitsu for the win! I just switched from Taekwondo to the Jiu Jitsu class and I am loving it. The people at the school and in the classes are great. My martial arts journey started here at 48. I would recommend this school for children (Master Coleman is wonderful with children) and adults. As a drug addict and alcoholic in recovery, it was a miracle that I found this school. I have to be surrounded by healthy people to recover. No complaints about Taekwondo classes, Jiu Jitsu was just a better match for my style (perhaps my wrestling and law enforcement background influenced my decision)."
"Our 8-year-old son has been participating in POW for more than a year. Prior to attending POW, he was receiving Physical Therapy for muscle tightness and weakness. His doctor has been so pleased with the increase in mobility achieved by attending POW, we were able to discontinue PT. Our son loves POW and looks forward to classes. Master Coleman is amazing with the children he teaches. Not only is our son getting the PT he needs, he’s also learning discipline, bully defense and other skills. We are so thankful we found the POW family."
"- Shopping around for a martial arts class was such an overwhelming experience. I sat down with my kiddo, and I asked him, what are the top three things he wants to experience in a martial arts class. He said, " 1. I want to like my teacher, 2. I want to be able to slice a board open with my hands. 3. I want the class to not be long. He loves the instructors at POW. Loves how he interacts with them. I love that they are kind and set boundaries for the kids. they practice respect, endurance, fitness, and giving it all you got while having a good time. We wont be slicing boards anytime soon. However, he decided despite that we should stay and continue to grow in our skills. I agree with his choice and love that the classes are 30mins in length!"
"We initially started POW through our son having a fascination with ninjas but quickly learned POW is so much more than that. Master Coleman is revered by his students and parents, because he and Mr. Coleman bring care, attention and fairness to each student. This is not just kicks and punches, throws and belts. It’s life skills: - Communication - Confidence - Teamwork - Accountability - Perseverance - Reporting incidents properly - Speaking to adults Our son is more confident, more respectful and far more capable of talking to adults since having started at POW. He’s also learned some difficult-to-teach lessons along the way: How to deal with disappointment, how to be strong when things are difficult and powering through. As a parent, it’s easy to feel like different things aren’t sinking in with your kids. Having lessons like this instilled by leadership figures like Master Coleman and Mr. Coleman can be hugely influential in your child’s development."
"It's been over 20 years since I took martial arts classes, and I feel super lucky that Mr. Coleman opened POW right in my neighborhood. His philosophy on what martial arts is (and is not) fits exactly with mine, and the flexible class schedule has been working out very nicely with my busy life. My 8-year-old daughter is also taking lessons and she loves it, too. His manner with the kids is excellent, keeping them engaged and having fun, even with a pack of 12 or more on the mat! They have only been open a few months, but Mr. Coleman is putting all of his 25 years of experience into it, and it will only get better. Whether you are looking for serious self-defense training or just some super effective physical fitness, you have to check out POW!"
