Charles Schwab

"I wanted to open an account as we have an upcoming trip to Italy and several people recommended Charles Schwab for ease of currency withdrawls and savings on the foreign transaction fees. It seemed that the people at the front desk wanted me to open my account myself, which I guess I could have done, but not being tech savvy, was hoping they could do for me (or at least help me). I had hoped to open a joint account, but since I did not know my husbands SSN, assumed I could open a single account and then bring home the paperwork to add him and mail back in. They kept telling me that I could do this myself at home if I had a computer…seriously, it felt a little condescending, of course I have a computer. First I was brought a chrome book…then a stack of papers, it was frustrating to see that even if my husband was able to call me back while I was there to supply his needed SSN, they still would not have taken the forms I just spent time filling out to open an account as they would NOT have his signature! But again they told me I could do this on line, I could do this at home, I would not need his signature then…then what was the point of giving me all these papers to fill out?!? I have never worked so hard to give someone a large check in my entire life. I guess I will just open another banking account elsewhere….probably what they wanted me to do anyway."
