Reviews of Hugh L. Lacey, MD
"I hate giving bad reviews, but the front desk ladies are very rude. One woman in particular was very short with me when trying to book a yearly appointment. They are in the middle of switching hospitals (Mercy to Freeman) so I can understand that is stressful. However, after having this explained to me, I simply asked what she thought I should do. She gave me a snappy answer and then proceeded to hang up on me! No one likes booking for an OBGYN appointment, and these ladies definitely don’t help this case. I was also having issues with my prescription and release of information to go to a different provider. I had left 3-4 voicemails and never received a call back until I had to call, once again. It just shouldn’t be this hard. Save yourself the stress and find somewhere else for your women’s health needs."
"I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Lacey and his staff. I switched to him at 28 weeks pregnant due to negligence from a different office. I am SO glad that I did because my delivery escalated quickly and my husband and I are both convinced that our baby would have ended up in the NICU if Dr. Lacey had not been the one to bring him into this world. I went in recently for an annual check up and had a few different health issues I’m dealing with and have concerns about. I’ve never been someone who has had the need to go to the dr very often, so even as an adult I tend to get myself worked up leading up to an appointment. I was so anxious knowing all of the issues I was going to have to bring up and talk about. Like, on the verge of tears anxious. And LET ME TELL YOU, I left there crying HAPPY TEARS!! I got to see Susan and I have never in my life experience so much compassion and empathy from someone that I had just met. She immediately calmed my nerves and made me feel at ease with everything. She was so personable and had the best bedside manner you can imagine. We got right to my problems, we were in total agreement with everything and I just felt so comfortable. I’m still tearing up writing this just because of how special Susan made me feel. That was the first time I walked out of a drs office and thought “That went better than I thought it would.” Anyways, you all get the point. I’m just so thankful to have met this woman today and I can’t say enough good things about the WHOLE staff!!!"
"I LOVE Dr Lacey! I totally recommend him! I would have given him 5+ stars, but his receptionist can be rude."
"Dr Lacey has delivered all 3 of my little babes. I had very different pregnancies with each one of my babies and Dr Lacey always made me feel as though he cared deeply for me and my babies. He was always kind and polite as well as all the nurses in his office. He is funny and I’m sarcastic and so we got along well. I was placed on bedrest with my 3rd baby for 16 weeks and he got me through every step of the way. I LOVE DR LACEY! I will never use anyone else."
"I've gone to Dr Lacey's office for years and always saw susan. The office staff was always friendly and helpful and made me feel very comfortable. This all changed when I became pregnant and had to start seeing Dr Hugh Lacey. He made me very uncomfortable and spoke to me in a demeaning tone. Was not empathetic towards me at all about my food aversion and constant vomiting I even the thought of food. He told me that I'm a grown up and it's my responsibility to take care of myself and wasn't going to do anything to help me until I specifically asked him to at least prescribe me zofran. He did provide that prescription to me but I chose to go to a different OB and hire a team of midwives so that I could have my dream of a home water birth, which doctor Lacey had told me was very dangerous because babies can't breathe underwater. After my delivery I went back to Dr Lacy's office to have an ingrown hair checked out and he barged in and the first thing he said was oh so you did have a baby. I informed him I had a home birth and he looked at me very angrily and then told me I should apologize for not continuing service with them. I just said okay instead of apologize. Throughout this appointment he asked me three times if I wanted birth control and each time I told him that I would like birth control but I wanted more info on them before making a decision. Instead of informing me on my options for birth control and what might be best for me he just continued to ask me "so do you want birth control or not" and then when I finally said no he looked at me angry again and said he couldn't hear me. After he left the room I got dressed and as I exited I thanked the staff and they wouldn't even look at me. I do wish I could continue services with Susan but I don't feel comfortable going back to this office again."
