"I would go with an attorney who can communicate more professionally and fairly. I worked with Maia for ~ two years and continued to take her advice to pay her and her junior entire days to mediate over and over or be left up a creek because if I didn’t then she likes to threaten to withdraw from your case weeks before trial. After paying her invoice for two years out of fear she would make her threat true and withdraw weeks before trial (our trial kept getting rescheduled due to Covid) I finally stood up to myself and questioned her bill and she was so upset she withdrew from my case before filing the final paperwork. Perhaps I could have asked to e question nicer on the phone, but her office can go one to two weeks without returning calls. In the beginning though if you keep finding your trust $25k a time she will have her staff call back but they won’t get much work done. I did hear a lot of other cases as they worked on that during my mediations, but perhaps the more ethical approach would have been to work on my case, as I was being charged for their time."

After she went on maternity leave, my case was handled by a very junior associate who miscategorized a mortgage, creating a big swing in my payout, and seldom produced work in a timely manner.
