"Allied-Coleman Moving Company in Shawnee, KS, was very responsive to our needs throughout the entire moving process. Their team was pleasant to work with and they were very skilled at making sure our possessions arrived to our new house undamaged. They were priced right and we highly recommend them!"
"Awesome experience. Bob was extremely professional to work with and commutation regarding our move was timely and helpful as we planned. We especially appreciated how well staff packed our artwork. Much to our delight it arrived safely as did all our other items. The arrival of our moved items was exceptional. The driver, Alex, was excellent and communicated well and had a “great do” attitude. Moving as we all know is an extremely stressful experience. Allied - Shawnee took a lot of the stress out of the experience and we are very thankful."
"Our truck didn’t arrive on it’s scheduled date. No one at Coleman knew how to help us, and it felt like only one person, Julie, really cared. This mix up costed us time off of work plus and additional $450 in hotel fees. Each time I’ve contacted the office to ask how this would be resolved, they’ve kicked the can down the road. Three and a half weeks later, this hasn’t been resolved and now the team is unresponsive."
"They were very responsive when I asked questions they got back to me quickly. The team that showed up to pack our belongings were respectful and knew what they were doing. We had a small amount of belongings being crated and shipped to Atlanta and it got there in the time specified. The crew in Atlanta were just as respectful and helpful."
"Unfortunately we had a very poor experience with Allied. Despite their high ratings and very expensive rates, our move from Kansas City to Delaware – I major event for my family – was just a business transaction for Allied. As long as they got paid they really didn’t care if the job was performed well. Our load was pretty simple – boxes and a few crates, and only a few number of large furniture items totaling about ½ a van (2K cuft.). From the get go I would say we had fair experience with packing. The packing team was experienced but short of people. They ran over into evening hours both days planned and had to work an extra day to be ready for loading. The loading into the van went OK, but again fair to poor in terms of performance. The team was 2 experienced hands, but 2-3 unexperienced loaders – the latter of which led to some observed damage. Our real problem was on the delivery end, which should have been the simplest part of the process. Just needed to unload ½ a van into 2 large storage units (total storage was 2x the load size, so they didn’t even need to pack the space). The driver was experienced by he only had 2 helpers, both completely inexperienced. This ultimately is what created the dissatisfaction for us. I knew I was in trouble within the first few minutes of the unloading process. While the driver was good, the other two helpers constantly were yelling at each other how to best unload the van. Since they were both new to the job neither had the experience to be recommending anything. They would continue arguing and yelling until the driver stepped in to set them straight. Not exactly what the dream team you’d want to handling decades of valuables and fragile items. Some other specifics: • moving furniture inappropriately (like cartwheeling a table frame end to end, using and antique table as a cart and pushing it across a rough parking lot, tipping and dragging furniture legs on rough pavement) • rough handling of crates and dishpacks, storing items upside down, even when there were arrows indicating “up”, soring items labled “top load” (eg fragile and light” on the bottom of heavy stacks of boxes in the storage unit. • overloading handcarts and then having boxes spill over the side of a ramp (they handcart ran off the edge of the ramp) • at several points I had to interject what the 2 inexperienced movers where doing and give them direction so as to not severely damage some of the heavier unusually shaped items As the day wore on, exhaustion set in and they were tired, hot, irritable, but had the most heavy unloading to do. We are lucky, very lucky, that the driver was able to lead them through unloading the heaviest pieces without them being dropped or otherwise destroyed. I will be doing a tight inspection for damage before this is all done, as I am sure there will be lots of breakage on things unpacked given how they were tossing things around, especially as the day got late and they just wanted to be done with the job and go home. While the service I got was poor, the rates Allied charged are certainly in the premium category. This move cost me $25K, a high mark compared to what we had paid for other similar moves from national carriers (and had excellent experiences with). I escalated my dissatisfaction to regional executives and their only response was just to blame their local subcontractor that did the unloading, tell me to fill-out damage reports, and hope for the best. Way to stand behind your promise and brand, right? Overall I feel like Allied is a fragmented mess that is too focused on contracts and financial outcomes and could care less about the customer. The service we got was far short of what we paid for. Period. Should I ever need to move again it will not be with Allied. No doubt I can get better service at much lower rates."
