"My daughter is going to the early childhood learning center in grain valley and I have noticed so much improvement with her. Miss Tatum is a loving caring genuinely good person and an equally amazing teacher! My daughter Alaina adores her!! We went to the pre-K music program last night and from across the gym my daughter RAN with open arms to Miss Tatum. Miss Tatum gave Alaina the most genuine bear hug I have ever witnessed a teacher give! I could SEE the love she has for my daughter and the other kiddo in her class. We are definitely blessed to have Miss Tatum as Alaina's special needs teacher!!!! Im so thankful that Grain Valley has this pre-k program available for our babies!!!"
"Right now, 20 min after the bus comes by, it's 6° outside with Sub zero wind chills. There's not even school delay. Many schools nearby have delays. But NEVER Grain Valley. That cold hurts bad and painfully takes the breath right out of you, but I feel no cares from G.V. This is there 2nd time, within a month, that I feel like they could have at least delayed school for the freezing children."
"My daughter has had the worst year ever at this school... She has been bullied non-stop all year. I had tried talking to the principle of the school and even brought another mother of a daughter that was a small part of the bullying to have this all stop with her daughter and mine.. The choice is to be the victim or the abuser .. and they get away with it. What ever happened to being a MORAL PEOPLE?! and raising our children better than that!!! I didn't just stand up to the school for just my daughter .. But, for the children who have special needs at the school that my daughter has witnessed being bullied. THIS SCHOOL NEEDS A ZERO TOLERANCE TO BE ACTIVE EVERY DAY. THEY NEED TO PUT THE WORK IN TO HOLD STUDENTS AND PARENTS ACCOUNTABLE OR HOW ELSE IS IT GOING TO STOP!!! The mom I brought with me to the office wasn't even aware of issues but the councilors did! I am debating moving out of Grain Valley to get my child to a better school district... It broke my heart hearing other people have had the same horrible experiences... Something has to change this next school year... for all students and faculty.."
"I went to this school last year and it was absolutely awful. My teachers were great in both 6th and 7th grade, but I was bullied all year long. Even after I left, my friend told me people were saying bad things about me. Kinda sucks that I spent half my middle school career in such a negative invoriment. My mum agrees"
"My daughter spent her 7th grade year at South Middle School this past year and was relentlessly bullied mentally, emotionally and physically by a group of boys all year long. More times than I can count I called, emailed, left messages, spoke with administration....all with NO resolve. None. I even requested she speak to another school counselor and the principal told me they won't change counselors upon parents request. Never one time have they done ANYTHING to help my daughter or myself. I gave them specifics: names, incident details, etc and every time I was blown off. Then came the worse part. My daughter began self-harming due to the bullying and lack of support from the staff at south middle school. When I found out she was exhibiting this behavior (once was during class time) I refused to send her back. On the last day of school they tried to refuse giving us her belongings saying that since she was absent she wasn't allowed in the building. After raising hell and threatening a lawsuit, the principal himself retrieved her belongings and dropped the bag at her feet and threw her lock into the chair beside her and didn't say a word. The staff was so aware of this bullying that a teacher even pulled her aside and asked what the names meant they were calling her and laughed right along with the crowd at times. It is absolutely disgusting that staff would disregard something so serious. I am literally BEGGING u not to send your children here."
