"Very beautiful display outside of the museum for Christmas time! The museum inside is chock full of important local history and I'm very happy that they are keeping it alive."
"Great little museum! Our guide was wonderful."
"I love this museum! So many interesting displays that change several times per year, along with knowledgeable volunteers who run the museum. The timeline of Kearney is my favorite part!"
"A lot of thought and planning has gone into each display. The docent was quite knowledgeable about Kearney history and we enjoyed listening to her stories. The museum is free and was a nice little excursion on a hot summer day."
"Honestly, there is not a whole lot to this museum, even with its fairly new expansion area. It has an outline of the history of Kearney, along with lots of pictures and various artifacts from different eras. Even if you read everything and look at every exhibit, I couldn't imagine spending more than 30-45 minutes here. This museum seems to cater more to the locals than out-of-towners. It did not have enough written content to give context to the exhibits or pictures. I am not from Kearney, so photos of prominent local people (and some items they once owned) without proper explanation as to their role and importance made it feel like looking through the yearbook for a school you did not attend. Admission is free and it is staffed by volunteers, so I'm not going to knock this place, but it really could do a better job giving outsiders a broader look at the history and evolution of this town. It does have a wall of historic photos organized by year, which does give some context, but otherwise the museum felt more like a hodgepodge of donated old items and random pictures without an overarching theme to each area. If you are in Kearney on a Friday or Saturday during its operating hours, this museum is worth a look."
